Horses Win the First Bonus in the Animal Planet R.O.A.R. Campaign October 14 – November 12

WESTPORT, CT – October 23, 2013 – Animal Planet announced today that the EQUUS Foundation was awarded the first of eight $5,000 bonuses in the Animal Planet R.O.A.R. Matching Campaign running through November 12. In addition to the $40,000 in bonuses, Animal Planet is matching $100,000 in the first donations received by its seven charitable partners. The EQUUS Foundation is the only HORSE charity.

The EQUUS Foundation received $5,000 for its efforts in pre-promoting the campaign during the two weeks before the official launch date on October 14 by reaching out to the more than 800 equine organizations on the Foundation’s Equine Welfare Network, its Alliance members, and individual equine enthusiasts and donors.

“We reached out and our horse lovers answered!” said Lynn Coakley, EQUUS Foundation President. “We are also doing great in matching gifts. According to the standings today, we are third in the number of individual donors and fourth in donations raised. The EQUUS Foundation may be the youngest of the seven charitable partners, but we have a loud voice!”

Even if you are unable to donate, you can still help us win the $10,000 “Most Traffic” bonus and the $5,000 Loudest Roar!

Our cause . . . Rescue – Rehab – Retrain & Re-Home
Reduce the US unwanted horse population
Make equine therapy available to more people.

The number of unwanted horses has reached an epidemic level in the US. Tragically, many are slaughtered. Instead, they can be rescued, rehabilitated and retrained. Many can be re-homed as therapy horses.

Equine therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for physical, cognitive & emotional disabilities such as Autism, Brain Injuries, Amputations, Attention Deficit Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Cerebrovascular Accident/Stroke, Deafness, Down Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Spina Bifida, Spinal Cord Injuries, and Visual Impairment.

Whether it’s a five-year-old with Down syndrome, a 45-year-old recovering from a spinal cord injury, a senior citizen recovering from a stroke or a teenager struggling with depression, research shows that individuals of all ages who participate in equine therapy and equine assisted activities can experience physical and emotional rewards. For individuals with emotional challenges, the unique relationship formed with the horse can lead to increased confidence, patience and self-esteem.

Over 1,000 organizations now use horses to provide therapy to over 60,000 people with special needs. However, over 37 million individuals (12.1%) of all ages in the US reported having disabilities in 2011. An estimated 1.5 million Americans live with Autism and 1 in 4 veterans come home with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

With more trained horses, fewer horses will be slaughtered and many more people will benefit.

EQUUS Foundation and USEF Announce the Best Course Competition

WESTPORT, CT – September 29, 2013 – The Best Course Gives Back to the Horse! There isn’t any horse lover who would want to ponder where we would be without the gentle giants who team with us in sport, recreation and many other public service capacities – which is why the EQUUS Foundation and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) are jointly sponsoring the Best Course Competition – open to all USEF Licensed Competitions and their competitors.

Washington International Horse Show Signs On for the Launch!

What better way than to launch the Best Course Competition than in the Nation’s Capital at the Washington International Horse Show, October 22-27, 2013.

“WIHS is very pleased to have the opportunity to launch the Best Course of the Day program with the EQUUS Foundation and the USEF. We are thrilled to kick off this program that encourages competitors to give back to horses. Horses give so much to us every day; it was time to return the favor. The EQUUS Foundation has a great concept with the Best Course Competition and with the longstanding WIHS partnership with EQUUS Foundation, we wanted be the first,” said Victoria Lowell, WIHS President.

WIHS competitors can sign up for an EQUUS Foundation “Best Course of the Day” armband on their official Washington International acceptance form. Contact WIHS at WIHSsecretary@wihs.org for more information.

How Does It Work?

The new program utilizes competition itself to benefit horse welfare.

* USEF Licensed Competitions sign up as Best Course Competitions by offering the official “Best Course of the Day”.

* Competitors purchase an official EQUUS Foundation “Best Course of the Day” armband with a $20 tax deductible donation as part of their entry fees.

* Judges select the winner of the “Best Course of the Day” each day of the show from among the competitors wearing the armband while competing in any division that day.

* 100% of the proceeds are donated to the EQUUS Foundation to improve the quality of life for horses through rescue, rehab, training and re-homing.

USEF Licensed Competitions that sign up as Best Course Competitions, along with the winners of the Best Course of the Day, will be recognized by both the EQUUS Foundation and the United States Equestrian Federation.

Stand Out!
The judge will select the Best Course from among those competitors (junior, amateur or professional) wearing the official Best Course Competition EQUUS Foundation Armband while competing in any division at the participating competition. Rather than score-based, the winner will be the judge’s favorite and most memorable performance.

“We are thrilled to launch this wonderful program at the Washington show and hope that the enthusiasm to participate extends to not only other hunter-jumper shows but to the other USEF discipline and breed competitions as well. It’s open to every competitor at every level and is a call to action to the equestrian sport as a whole to give back to their equine team mates,” said Lynn Coakley, EQUUS Foundation President.

The EQUUS Foundation Announces 2013 Grant Awards

WESTPORT, CT – August 31, 2013 – The Board of Directors of the EQUUS Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the award of $275,000 in grants to charities dedicated to ensuring the well-being of horses, improving the quality of life of people through equine-assisted activities and therapies, and fostering the horse-human bond.

2013 marks the 10th anniversary of the EQUUS Foundation and the evolution from a local community-based effort to a nationwide campaign to serve charities directly involved with horse rescue, foster care, rehabilitation, adoption and retirement and charities that are operating programs involving horses that benefit the public, including equine assisted activities and therapies for those with special needs.

“While our primary goal is to provide financial support, we also operate a network connecting equine enthusiasts to organizations that need their help,” said Jenny Belknap Kees, the Foundation’s Chairman of the Board. Thanks to the partnership with Ariat International, we also offer the Champions Equine Service program and awarded $10,000 in scholarships to equine volunteers in addition to the grants to organizations.

“Even though we have awarded over $2.5 million in grants and there are nearly 800 organizations taking advantage of our free services, many qualified organizations are not awarded grants due to the limited availability of funds,” said Belknap-Kees.”

The EQUUS Foundation is now one of only seven animal welfare Principle Partners of Animal Planet, and the only organization focused on horse welfare. This significant recognition should will help raise awareness and donations so that the Foundation can support more organizations that need help.

“Our success in raising funds is directly related to donor confidence in our evaluation and selection process. Most recently, we developed standards for the management and operation of a charity either directly or indirectly responsible for the care of horses and a systematic mechanism to provide an impartial verification of the charity’s horse care and use practices,” continued Belknap-Kees.

The EQUUS Foundation will be renaming its network, the Equine Welfare Network, to encompass the philanthropic aspect of the Foundation’s mission and the other services provided to aid equine charities, and to more clearly identify the network as a trusted source for equine welfare organizations in the United States.

The EQUUS Foundation will also be introducing a new program to recognize organizations on our Equine Welfare Network that demonstrate a commitment to public transparency by their willingness to publish and make available critical data about their programs, horse care practices, and governance.

The new program will not only provide vital information to individuals seeking information on the services provided by participating organizations but also the means for participating organizations to share their best practices.

EQUUS Foundation “CHAMPION” Volunteers – Getting Far More Than They Give!

WESTPORT, CT – July 27, 2013 – “I have to say that I started volunteering to get ‘my horse fix’, but now I do it for the clients. The fact that I get to be around horses is a bonus,” said Jeffrey Grossman, an EQUUS Foundation “Champion” randomly selected to receive one of five $250 gift certificates for Ariat boots for their volunteer service in the second quarter of 2013 as part of the EQUUS Foundation “CHAMPIONS” program sponsored by Ariat International.

Patti Andersen

Patti volunteers for Heroes on Horseback in Bluffton, South Carolina, a charity providing equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) for children with mental and physical disabilities. “Unfortunately, these children have not had the full childhood experience of being able to choose the sport of their choice,” said Andersen; however, when they are up on a horse they feel as though they are in control for the first time in their lives.” Patti loves volunteering during the school year on Saturday mornings and has formed great relationship with the children and the other volunteers who enjoy this program as much as she does.

Patti started volunteering at Heroes on Horseback after moving to South Carolina and far away from her two grandchildren who suffer from Autism Spectrum disorder that she missed so much. She wanted to feel like she was making a difference in the lives of children with Autism and other disabilities and where she could help disabled children find joy in something they love. She found just that at Heroes on Horseback.

“There is nothing like seeing children go from not talking to laughing and having full conversations with their classmates and other volunteers,” said Andersen. “People come in and out of our lives but it is our choice to make a difference in those we come in contact with.” Patti’s commitment to volunteering has shown how just one person can encourage a disabled child to feel they have the power and strength to do everything their peers can do.

Jill Davis

Jill Davis volunteers for Parkwood Farms Therapy Center in Snellville, Georgia. She regularly leads one of the weekly sessions, assists in providing trail riding and therapy for children with special needs, and attends to the social media needs of the farm.

Working at Parkwood Farms has given her the quality horse time she has always wanted. She thinks there is nothing more fulfilling than working with the children. There are few happier moments than watching their confidence and skills develop on the back of a horse.

She grew up in the Denver Metro Area and now lives in Loganville, Georgia. She is currently a married, stay at home mother of three and an avid knitter.

Jill was not able to spend as much time with horses as she wanted to as a child, but is making up for that now. She believes volunteering in this way has changed her view of the world.

Jeffrey Grossman

Jeffrey Grossman is a volunteer with Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Center in Lexington, Virginia. Grossman, a retired business executive, took up riding after retiring in 2006. It wasn’t long before, Grossman and his wife purchased their own horse, an Arabian named Ebby. “He was the perfect horse!” said Grossman.

“We enjoyed riding and taking care of him, and did so until we moved from Santa Monica, California to Lexington, Virginia at the end of 2009.” Since Ebby was older, and he had lived on the same ranch his entire life, the Grossmans gave Ebby to their instructor to use for lessons with her more advanced riders, and visit him when they go back to California.

Having moved to Lexington, Grossman looked for ways to reconnect with horses again and signed up as a volunteer at Hoofbeats. That was four years ago. He just enjoys helping by mounting and dismounting physically challenged riders, grooming and tacking up the Hoofbeats’ horses as well as sidewalking and leading horses – whatever is needed.

Danielle Kimmel

Danielle Kimmel has been a volunteer at Special Equestrians in Warrington, Pennsylvania, since 2005. She helps with lessons, barn work and special events, including the student horse shows.

“I’m an animal lover,” said Kimmel. I grew up with a variety of pets and fostered cats and dogs until they found their forever homes.” Kimmel grew up in Philadelphia and was part of a team that cared for the school horses at Manor College in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, later graduating from Drexel University with a degree in Accounting.

Kimmel now lives with her husband and beagle in Bensalem and works as a CPA in the finance department of Bensalem Township.

Master Sergeant Mark Ruprecht USAF
“I wish I had more time to devote to Free Rein Therapeutic Riding.
It is a great program providing a great service.”

MSgt Mark Ruprecht, USAF, makes the time in his demanding schedule working on active duty in the U.S. Air Force to volunteer for Free Rein Therapeutic Riding Center in Spokane, Washington. Married for 11 years with a nine month old daughter, Mark recalls, “I first started riding horses regularly while dating my wife Amy.”

A couple of years after they were married, Amy was diagnosed with a condition that left her in a wheelchair and her balance left her unable to ride. Mark set out to find a place for Amy to ride a horse as an anniversary present. “I believe it topped the list of anniversary presents I’ve given her.” And, Mark became a dedicated volunteer.

When the Air Force transferred Mark to Spokane, he looked for another riding center and found Free Rein Therapeutic Riding. Now both Amy and Mark volunteer at Free Rein and Amy is also a rider in the program. Mark volunteers as a side walker and a horse leader. Mark also works in the Wounded Warrior Project horsemanship program at Free Rein. “We are helping military personnel deal with injuries and emotional trauma through this horsemanship program.”

CHAMPIONS is the EQUUS Foundation’s incentive-based equine service volunteer program sponsored by Ariat International to recognize and reward individuals and organizations on the carrots4acause network.

It’s easy to become a CHAMPION; an individual must log a minimum of 24 volunteer hours from January 1st to December 31st. The volunteer hours will be verified by the organization and The EQUUS Foundation.

Hillary Dobbs to Celebrate Launch of Dobbs Show Jumping Syndicate at “Champagning” Event to Benefit EQUUS Foundation

Hillary Dobbs, winner of 30+ Grand Prix and youngest rider to earn over $1 Million in career prize money ready to partner with show jumping lovers around the world, with Marengo.

WESTPORT, CT – March 19, 2013 – Hillary Dobbs, international show jumping champion, will host “Champagning”, a cocktail event to celebrate the launch of her Dobbs Show Jumping syndicate on March 28, 2013 in the Gallery at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida. The proceeds of the event will benefit the EQUUS Foundation.

Building upon her success representing the USA in International Nations Cups and Grand Prix, the Harvard University graduate is now poised to partner with strategic investors to build a world class team of show jumping horses for the next phase of her professional career.

Celebrity Stylist Engie Hassan, a Contributing Editor for High Fashion Magazine, will be covering the “Champagning” scene on March 28. Show Jumpers Georgina Bloomberg, Brianne Goutal and Cassie Herman are just a few of the notable members of the Host Committee for the Champagning cocktail event that will include the elite of the Wellington community. Guests will also include Dobbs’ fellow area alumni members of the Harvard Club of the Palm Beaches.

Through the generous support of sponsors that include Roaring Thunder Media, Parlanti USA, Reserveage Organics, First Republic Bank, Dore Designs and Status Luxury Group, guests of “Champagning” will enjoy a wonderful evening of champagne, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the beautiful Gallery venue. “Champagning” will showcase some of the top champagne brands in the world, thanks to event sponsor, Status Luxury Group (SLG), a global concierge and lifestyle management company dedicated to providing the highest quality of personalized service while transcending client expectations.

Along with her success in the Grand Prix ring as a rider, Dobbs is also considered to have a great set of eyes to find and develop horses to train to become world class Show Jumpers. Dobbs Show Jumping plans to offer partners the opportunity to work with Dobbs as she identifies, purchases and trains a select group of horses based upon her past successes with her champion show jumping horses “Quincy B,” “Corlett,” and “Marengo”. The show jumping horses acquired and trained by Dobbs Show Jumping will be ridden by Dobbs as she plans to compete at the highest level in Grand Prixs in the USA and around the world.

When asked about the rationale for launching Dobbs Show Jumping, Hillary Dobbs stated, “As I get ready to enter the next phase of my Show Jumping career, it is my goal to build a world class syndicate to allow all of my supporters through the years to join me as partners to build a talented stable of horses that will allow me to compete in the top Grand Prixs.” Dobbs also added, “As we now start to see higher and higher purses for US Show Jumping, there is a tremendous business opportunity through Dobbs Show Jumping for my partners and me to share in the success of finding the best horses to allow us to continue to compete at the highest level and build a valuable stable of world class show jumpers.”

“We congratulate Hillary on the launch of Dobbs Show Jumping and look forward to her continued success as one of the top Show Jumpers in the world. We greatly appreciate her deep rooted commitment to charitable efforts that not only advance the equestrian sport, but also ensure the well-being of horses and enable the therapeutic use of horses for those with special needs,” said Lynn Coakley, president of EQUUS Foundation.

Gianluca Caron, President and CEO of Parlanti USA, says, “We have been a longtime supporter of Hillary, and are proud to help her launch the next phase of her professional career. We look forward to a continued relationship with Hillary and Dobbs Show Jumping.”

Fete Cheval Etoile Celebrates Horse Stars Hall of Fame Inductees

WESPORT, CT – March 13, 2013 – Stars of the equestrian world gathered for the EQUUS Foundation’s Fete Cheval Etoile on Friday night, March 8, 2013, at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) in Wellington, Florida. The event featured the premiere of the Horse Stars Hall of Fame, a joint effort of the EQUUS Foundation and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) to celebrate the extraordinary talent of the horses and the powerful bond between horses and people.

“We are, of course, indebted to all our sponsors and donors, including the presenting sponsors, Dr. Betsee Parker – Huntland, Spy Coast Farm, and the Crown Family,” said Lynn Coakley, President of the EQUUS Foundation who also served as the emcee. “However, the Event Co-Chairs, Ellen Crown, Jenny Belknap Kees and Elizabeth Press, were the inspiration for this amazing evening of non-stop entertainment.”

Guests were the first to see the new website (www.horsestarshalloffame.org) created as the virtual home of the Hall of Fame. A photo gallery and biographies of the 62 horses in the first class of inductees were on display in PBIEC’s Gallery. The Hall of Fame recognizes horses in two categories: those with extraordinary athletic accomplishments and those who have gone above and beyond in serving the public and having a life-changing impact on individuals with special needs.

Jenny Belknap Kees, EQUUS Foundation Chair, and Chrystine Tauber, USEF President, were on hand to launch the Hall of Fame. In welcoming the audience, Coakley said, “Since the beginning of civilization, horses have been vital to human survival. Although their role has changed, they continue to steal our hearts and imagination.”

“For most of our event guests, it is the horse’s talent as an athlete that has bonded them with these gentle giants,” Coakley continued. “However, for many people with special needs, horses are amazing humanitarians – providing comfort, confidence and pure joy. The Horse Stars Hall of Fame tells the stories of their extraordinary achievements.”

Over $225,000 was raised at the Fete Cheval Etoile to support the worthy mission of the EQUUS Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life of horses, advancing the use of horses to enrich the lives of people in need and educating the public about the horse’s unique ability to empower, teach and heal.

“Equestrian Sport Productions under the leadership of Katharine and Mark Bellissimo and the coordination of Vaneli Bojkova made sure our event was a success.”

“It took a lot of patience, adaptability, professionalism and generosity to make this event possible,” said Coakley.

Ki-Juan Minors, a talented equestrian and singer/songwriter and the winner of the EQUUS Foundation’s Equestrian Idol competition in 2008, enchanted guests with a song to honor the Hall of Fame inductees while world renowned artist Josee Nadeau created an original live painting, inspired by the music. “Lynn tries to keep the Idol winners involved in EQUUS Foundation events,” Minors said. “For this event, she called me up and said, ‘Ki, we want to do something completely different. See if you can come up with a song that would be a fitting tribute for the horses being inducted into the Hall of Fame.'”

“The sound of Minors’ beautiful voice really made my hand flow,” said Nadeau, whose Equestrian theme paintings are on display for sale at The Gallery at the Winter Equestrian Festival until March 31. “His voice was magic; it was like feathers. Every stroke that went on the canvas was the right one.” Nadeau recently painted live on stage to the full 95 piece Salt Lake Symphony Orchestra, something that has never been done in the World before. Her combination of Art and Music started after George Harrison sang to her in 2000 at the private home of Guy Lalibertē, the founder of Cirque du Soleil.

As the guests enjoyed cocktails, made bids on silent auction items and perused the photos in the PBIEC Gallery, guests were treated to juggling and balancing acts by Cirque Vertigo. Members of two legendary circus families, the Wallendas and the Arestovs, came together to create the troupe. Later in the evening, the show continued as guests dined in the Wellington Club. Heart-stopping balancing feats and thrilling acrobatics, including a suspenseful mother-daughter aerial act, kept guests on the edge of their seats.

The successful live auction, featuring energetic auctioneer Field Ladd, included the sale of Nadeau’s live painting and a VIP table at the Alltech National Horse Show. Professional polo players Brandon Phillips and Kris Kampsen donated a group polo lesson. “This is a great cause,” Phillips said. “You have to give back at some point, and they do a lot of great things, so it’s my pleasure to do what I can.”

Guests also had the opportunity to bid on a meet-and-greet with Laura Kraut and her Grand Prix show jumper, Cedric, including a course walk alongside Kraut. “I feel very strongly about the EQUUS Foundation and I want to do whatever I can to help their cause,” Kraut said. “Cedric loves to meet new people, so it’s a great opportunity.” “The event was beautiful,” she added. “I think they’ve done an unbelievable job. It was a five-star party, and we had a great time.”

Dr. Vincent Abbatiello, along with his wife, Jill, who served on the event committee, said, “The Fete just established itself as the premier event of the season. We had a great crowd, great people and great entertainment. But more importantly, we raised a sizable amount of money to make a better life for horses and a better life for the people that horses touch.”

Susan Alcala, Ariat International Vice President of Partnership Marketing, expressed her appreciation for the Foundation’s work. “We’re thrilled and proud to be a corporate partner of the EQUUS Foundation,” she said. “Equine welfare is very important to us, so we look for opportunities to do everything we can to be involved. It was a terrific event with great turnout – they did a beautiful job.”

The event was made possible by its generous sponsors, including Presenting Sponsors Dr. Betsee Parker – Huntland, Spy Coast Farm and The Crown Family; Platinum Sponsors Split Rock Farm and Visse Wedell; Gold Medal Sponsors Mike & Mary Carpenter, R. Bruce Duchossois, Equestrian Sport Productions, Becky & David Gochman, Dr. Jen & Bruce Hlavacek, Stephanie & John Ingram, Louisburg Farm, Sara & Rick Mershad, Elizabeth & Clifford Press, and PJ & Suhail Rizvi.

Silver Medal Sponsors for Fete Cheval Etoile were Jane Forbes Clark, The Carlson Family, Marylou D’Addario Kennedy & Sean Kennedy, Patricia Keenan & Lawrence D’Addario, and Mr. & Mrs. Walter T. Kees. Bronze Medal Sponsors included Dobbs Show Jumping, Fairfield Equine Associates, Dr. & Mrs. Kenneth Garber, Gregory W. Gingery, Dr. & Mrs. Steven Herman, Sydney Keith, Kim Prince & Snowbrook, P. F. Farm, Quiet Corner Farm, Jennifer & Eric Ross, Juliet & Sam Reid, William & Shirley Reilich, Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Springsteen, The Toffolon Family, and Wrenwood Farms.

The EQUUS Foundation is also indebted to its auction and gift sponsors, which were as follows: Dr. & Mrs. Vincent Abbatiello, Alltech National Horse Show, Ariat International, Steven Axelrod, Handyman, Baden Wellness Centers, Inc., Badgley Mischka, Barbara’s Visions, Beval Saddlery Ltd., Bradford Renaissance Portraits, Shelli Breidenbach, Changing Reins, Christine Rose Photography, Clinique, Tina Duryea, Stephen Filarsky, GiGi New York, Hampton Classic Horse Show, Hunt Ltd., JODS, Kris Kampsen & Brandon Phillips, Laura Kraut, Modern Styles For Life, Morgan Terry, Josee Nadeau, Parlanti USA, Inc., Mike Snider, Skiffingtons LLC, Turner & Co. and Viking Yachts.

Alexis Conover Earns $1,500 Grant through USEF Equestrians in Action

Photo submitted by Alexis Conover.

Lexington, KY – Seventeen-year-old Alexis Conover (New Port Richey, FL) volunteered more than 1,800 hours to accrue the most time of all participants in the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Equestrians in Action volunteer recognition program.

USEF Equestrians in Action tracks youth volunteer hours that are aimed at improving the welfare of the horse or positively promoting equestrian sport. Sponsored by The EQUUS Foundation, the program encourages youth to give back to equestrian sport – at horse shows, equine promotional events, equine businesses or organizations, trade fairs, therapeutic riding clinics, horse rescue, and 4-H events.

As the participant with the most volunteer hours in 2012, Conover earned a $1,500 grant for her academic or equestrian educational pursuits. A Hunter exhibitor, Conover volunteered her time at Straight Forward Farm, helping care for and train the farm’s rescue horses. She also spent time at St. Andrews University Therapeutic Horsemanship program, Thoroughbred Rescue of Tampa Bay and Odessa Equine Clinic.

As a freshman at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, NC, and a member of the Equestrian Team, Conover balances her horse involvement with academics. She has completed two stars of the USEF High School Equestrian Athlete program and is a member of the National Honor and Merit Scholars Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Science Honor Society, and Future Business Leaders of America.

The EQUUS Foundation and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) have established a new volunteer recognition program through the EQUUS Foundation’s carrots4acause network. The USEF Champion of Equine Service Scholarship is part of the EQUUS Foundation’s Champions program sponsored by Ariat International. It is an incentive-based, equine-service volunteer program that recognizes and rewards individuals and organizations on their carrots4acause network. CHAMPIONS are individuals who volunteer a minimum of 24 hours for an organization or organizations on the EQUUS Foundations carrots4acause network. All eligible applicants for the USEF scholarship are also automatically eligible for the EQUUS Foundation Champion of Equine Service Scholarships. To learn how to participate in the Champions program, visit their website at www.equusfoundation.org.
