Sanctuary’s Mobile Unit Helps Shave Seconds at National Barrel Horse Youth Championships

Barrel Racers Use Pre-Hab for Winning Runs

Ocala, FL (August 22, 2012) – The Sanctuary Equine Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation Center has been busy recently, treating equines of all disciplines at world championships and on the world stage. The Sanctuary’s mobile unit traveled to Perry, Georgia to attend the National Barrel Horse Association Youth World Championships, where their treatments gave horses the competitive edge.

Terry Angelo, manager of The Sanctuary’s Wellington facility, said the mobile unit’s trip to the 2012 NBHA Youth World Championships was a resounding success. “Our mobile unit was very well received and we treated horses from the start of the show until late in the evenings. We had lots of return clients from past shows,” he said.

THE Double HH Ranch Celebrates Ten Years of Barrel Racing with Great Incentives

“Thank you so much to all of the dedicated barrel racers who have continued to support our jackpot year after year,” says owner and producer John Hagaman. The Double HH Ranch in Kings Mountain, NC begins the 2011 Season in celebration of 10 years of weekly barrel racing April through October.

Hagaman has dedicated much of his life to offering quality barrel racing events to the west Charlotte, NC community. “It has always been important to run a fair show, with consistent ground, professional staff and great food,” says Hagaman, “We do everything we can to ensure a night of quality family entertainment and competition.”

THE Double HH Ranch Series (DHHR Series) celebrates their 10th Year of Barrel Racing by adding some new incentives to keep the shows running quickly and to help the barrel racers to continue to show in this tough economy. Number one in Hagaman’s mind each week is running the show quickly and getting the youth riders home at a decent hour. This year he is offering a Weekly $25 Fuel Card Drawing to the first 25 exhibition entries each week.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Care

One of the main differences Jim Kiser of Kiser Arena Specialists compensates for between an outdoor and an indoor arena is moisture content.

“If I use 500 gallons of water in (an indoor arena) a day, that probably keeps this ground about where I want it,” Jim says. “At this time of year, outside in an arena this size, 500 gallons wouldn’t even be close to enough.”

AQHA Professional Horseman Brad Jewett of San Antonio cites watering techniques as one of the few changes he makes to compensate in an outdoor arena as well.

Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center Prepares for Special Olympic State Equestrian Games

 Loxahatchee, FL – May 18, 2010 – Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center (VTRC) is currently preparing to participate in the Special Olympic State Equestrian Games, which will be held May 21-22, 2010, in Tampa, Florida. Sixteen riders qualified for the Games after competing at the Area level March 27, 2010, in Ft. Pierce, FL.

During the Special Olympic State Equestrian Games riders will have the opportunity to compete in English and western equitation, trail ride competition, dressage, and pole bending. The riders representing VTRC range from needing full support with a leader and two sidewalks to independent riders who walk, trot, and canter on their own. They also have several riders competing in the training level dressage tests.

The qualified riders have been working on dressage test, equitation skills, pole bending, and barrel racing to prepare for the exciting competition. In addition to the 12 students traveling to the Games, six horses and 17 volunteers will be in Tampa for the event to support VTRC.
