Atlanta Summerfest Series Wrap Up

August 28, 2013 – The 2013 version of the Atlanta Summerfest Horse Show series wrapped up this past Sunday.  The event again took place at beautiful Chatt Hills (Bouckaert Farms) in Fairburn, GA, August 8-25.  “We were extremely pleased with this year’s show,” said show organizer J. P. Godard.  “We were sold out again and it always a pleasure putting on an event at such an incredible facility.”  The facility is an exhibitor favorite that boasts an over 8000 acre equestrian paradise filled with established pastures, lakes, and woodlands with ample room to ride all located along the Chattahoochee River. The footing and stabling are both exceptional and the schedule allots for early days so exhibitors can enjoy the nearby lake, Six Flags, or the hustle and bustle of nearby downtown Atlanta which is only minutes away.

Highlights of the week included a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby that took place Friday evening along with exhibitor’s party sponsored by The Atlanta Hunt Club.  Alyssa Mansfield took home the blue ribbon honors in the derby on Stone Lane Farm’s Calice De Fuyssieu Z.  Julie Curtain took home second through fourth place honors respectively; second place went to Jeffery Sutton’s Visible, third place to Helen Brown’s Tybee, and fourth place to Mimi Washburn’s Confetti.

The $10,000 Chattahoochee Hills Jumper Classic took place Saturday in the jumper ring.  The hospitality sponsor’s provided the party hillside.  This year’s sponsor’s included: Dr. Juan Gamboa, Hillford Farm, The Curtis Family, New Vintage Farm, Sidelines Magazine, Stevehaven Stables, The Barn Book, The Tack Room, and Eurimports.  Timothy Maddrix of Birmingham, AL and Daniel Grice’s Boysterous came home the victors taking home the blue rosette and custom cooler donated by Integrity Fine Equestrian Linens.  The pair was the only clean round in the jump off marking the timers at 42.463.  Maddrix also took home second place on Claudia Styslinger’s Uluxion, and Danielle Grice rounded out the top three spots with Loretta Patterson’s Rapid Rewards.

Atlanta Summerfest II Wrap Up

August 20th, 2013 – Fairburn, GA – Week II of the 2013 Atlanta Summerfest show series came to a close on Sunday.  Friday evening featured the $1,000 Atlanta Summerfest 2’6-3’ hunter derby along with the popular cookout sponsored by Dr. Juan and Jennifer Gamboa.  Tim Sweat of Alpharetta, GA took home the top two prizes in the class.  The blue ribbon honors went to Laura Michelson’s Fritz with Playoff, owned by Howe Equine, LLC, taking the reserve spot.

The $10,000 Atlanta Summerfest Jumper Classic sponsored by The Barn Book and Sidelines Magazine took place Saturday evening along with a special retirement ceremony for The Water Boy.  Exhibitors and spectators alike were also treated to a VIP dinner on the hill sponsored by the Curtis Family in honor of the retirement of their special pony.  Chase Boggio of Alpharetta, GA and his Hennessey came home the victors turning in an impressive clear jump off round with a time of 34.490.  The Ellen Walker owned entry of Blackstone took second place honors with J. Michael Halbleib in the irons breaking the timers in 38.439; Albrecht with owner rider Kathleen Feeley rounded out the top three bringing home a time of 38.785.  The Barn Book and Sidelines Magazine representative Jyoti Parry was on hand to present the trophy and custom cooler by Integrity Linens to the winners of the class and also hand out free Sidelines Magazine subscriptions to a few lucky exhibitors.

The final week of competition at the 2013 Atlanta Summerfest kicks off on Thursday featuring a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby and the $10,000 Chattahoochee Hills Jumper Classic.  For complete results and more information, please visit www.equusevents.com.

Equus Events Kicks Off Its 2013 Atlanta Summerfest Show Series

August 13th, 2013 – Week I of the 2013 Atlanta Summerfest show series wrapped up on Sunday.  The event took place at Chattahoochee Hills (Bouckaert Farms) in Fairburn, GA.  Highlights of the week included a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby taking place Friday and a $5,000 Jumper Classic which took place Saturday evening.   Sponsors of the show included: Fenwick Equestrian, Dietrich Equine Insurance, Equi-Fit Inc., The Mark Lexton Collection, One K Helmets, Sidelines Magazine, The Barn Book, Gamboa Veterinary Services, and DFG Stables.  Hospitality sponsors throughout the three week series providing daily hospitality, ice cream socials, and Friday and Saturday evening exhibitor’s parties included: Dr. Juan Gamboa DVM, Hillford Farm, Four Seasons Farm, New Vintage Farm, Patchwork Farm, Sidelines Magazine, Stevehaven Stables, The Barn Book, and The Tack Room, Eurimports, and Chattahoochee Hills Eventing.

Julie Curtain had a banner evening Friday taking the top two spots in the USHJA National Hunter Derby.  First place honors and the blue ribbon went to Mimi Wasburn’s Confetti and second place to Donna Basinger’s Miramax.  Julie also took seventh place honors on Golinkski Equine, LLC’s Rainbow Road.  “We’re so incredibly proud of Confetti!” said owner Mimi Washburn.  “He’s come an incredibly long way in the year we’ve been at New Vintage Farm with Julie Curtin and we couldn’t be more thankful for everything she has done for us.” Chattahoochee Hills Eventing sponsored a pizza party for all exhibitors, trainers, and spectators during the class.

Saturday featured a $5,000 Jumper Classic and exhibitor’s party sponsored by Eurimports.  Mario Garcia of Fort Lauderdale and Mistletoe Farm’s Pacha De Nantuel took home blue ribbon honors in the Jumper Classic topping the field with a fast jump off time of 33.271.  Garcia has just recently purchased the 10 year old French bred gelding from Reed Kessler earlier this year.  Second Place went to Claudia Styslinger’s Uluxion with Timothy Maddox aboard bringing home a time of 34.103.  Mario Garcia also picked up the third place award on Corona Du Domaine Z owned by Mistletoe Farms and Carl Bouckaert rounded out the top four taking fourth place honors on his Cyrano Z.

Week II of the 2013 Atlanta Summerfest kicks off on Thursday of this week and features a hunter derby Friday evening along with the Lake Side Cookout following the class sponsored by Dr. Juan and Jennifer Gamboa.  The $10,000 Summerfest Jumper Classic will also be featured on Saturday evening with an exhibitor’s party sponsored by Sidelines Magazine and The Barn Book.  For more information and complete horse show results, please visit www.equusevents.com.

Equus Events Presents the 2013 Atlanta Summerfest Show Series

July 11th, 2013 Aiken, SC – Equus Events is gearing up for the third annual Atlanta Summerfest Show series taking place at beautiful Chattahoochee Hills (Bouckaert Farms) in Fairburn, GA. Due to the overwhelming success of the last couple of years a third week has now been added to make the series run August 8th-11th, 15th-18th, and 22nd-25th.  “We have been sold out the last two years so when the opportunity came up to add another week we decided that giving exhibitors three options of shows would hopefully ease the overflow,” said show organizer J. P. Godard.  “We are looking forward to returning this year with three great weeks of horse shows to offer.”  Well known in the eventing world, “Chatt Hills” has been host to the USEA American Eventing Championships the last three years.  The facility boasts an 8000 acre equestrian paradise filled with established pastures, lakes, and woodlands with ample room to ride, all located along the Chattahoochee River. Ketchum & Vodka Bay Take $10,000 Chattahoochee Jumper Classic at Atlanta Summerfest Finale

August, 27th 2012 – The second annual Atlanta Summerfest II came to a close yesterday.  The event was part of a two week show sold out show series managed by J. P. Godard and his Equus Events team taking place at Chattahoochee Hills Equestrian Center in Fairburn, GA.

The week was filled with beautiful weather and lots of exciting hunter and jumper action culminating with the $10,000 Chattahoochee Hills Jumper Classic Saturday evening.  17 entries competed over the course designed by J. P. Godard which looked straight forward, but ended up being tricky with only two horse rider combinations making it to the jump off.   The night belonged to Columbus, NC native Sara Ketchum and Still Creek Farm’s Vodka Bay as they put in two flawless rounds jumping clear in the jump off with a time of 39.513 to edge out Ace of Spades and owner rider Phyllis Tuggle.  Sara took home the blue ribbon as well as a Centaur Turbo Dry Dress sheet, custom Frederique Poulain platter, and a gift from Free Rein designs.  Riders and spectators were treated to an exhibitor’s party during the Jumper Classic sponsored by the 2012 Atlanta Summerfest Hospitality Sponsors: Brad Spragg and The Atlanta Hunt Club, Christina Jason and Cn’C Stables, Elizabeth Warmington and Brooksgate Stable, Inc., The Friedman Family, J. F. August 21, 2012 ~ The second annual Atlanta Summerfest I came to a close on Sunday.  The show is the first of a two week series hosted by Equus Events that takes place at the Chattahoochee Hills Equestrian Center in Fairburn, GA.  “It is one of our favorite venues,” quoted show organizer J. P. Godard. “The footing and stabling is exceptional and the facility itself is one of the most scenic around.”

One of the week’s highly anticipated events was the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby which took place Friday evening in the main hunter ring which was opened up to include the schooling area allowing riders to gallop along the open and flowing course designed by J. P. Godard.   Exhibitors and spectators were also treated to a “Derby Pizza Party” sponsored by Gagne International and J. F. Gagne along with Carsten Peters in the hospitality area.

Equus Events Expands Show Schedule with Two New Fall Events

August 7th, 2012 – Aiken, SC based Equus Events, Inc. is pleased to announce two new events for this coming fall. Chatt Hills Equestrian Center and Bouckaert Farms have added a new hunter jumper show taking place September 21-23. J. P. Godard and his Equus Events team will be handling the management duties for the Chatt Hills Fall Horse Show. This renowned facility is home of the popular Atlanta Summerfest series which takes place August 16-26 and also the 2012 USEA Nutrena American Eventing Championships held this September. It is situated on over 8,000 picturesque acres along the Chattahoochee River and offers some of the nicest footing and stabling in the country. The event will feature classics for most hunter divisions and offer many affordable opportunities for beginner riders. It will hold a USEF “A” rating and be sanctioned by GHJA, SCHJA, and NCHJA.

In October, the first annual Harvest Classic Horse Show will take place October 12-14 at Highfields in historic Aiken, SC. This new event will hold a USEF “A” rating and will feature a $1,000 Pony Hunter Derby, $1,000 Children’s/Adult Hunter Derby, and the $5,000 Aiken Jumper Derby. The Jumper Derby will have a “jump off” style format but will include more natural style obstacles and a slightly longer course. “Our goal for the pony and children’s/adult hunter derbies is to offer a finals type of experience that many exhibitors don’t receive at the regional level,” said show manager J. P. Godard. “We want to make these classes very special, and offer a show that is affordable and fun for everyone.”

2nd Annual Atlanta Summerfest Just a Few Weeks Away

Atlanta Summerfest and Aiken Fall Festival Update

The prize list for the 2012 Atlanta Summerfest August 16-19 and 23-26 and Aiken Fall Festival September 6-9 and 13-16 is now available on our web site and will be in the mail this week. Both show series include many exciting features including a $10,000 Open Jumper Classic each week at the Atlanta Summerfest as well as a USHJA National Hunter Derby. The Aiken Fall Festival will again feature a $5,000 Open Welcome Stake each week, a $15,000 Open Jumper Classic each week, a USHJA National Hunter Derby, and is proud to again be the host of the 2012 South Carolina Hunter Jumper Association Medal Finals. Many social events are planned for each show as well as the hospitality and customer service you have come to expect from Equus Events. Atlanta Summerfest Wrap-Up

August 30th, 2011 – The second week of the Atlanta Summerfest show series concluded Sunday at Chatt Hills (Bouckaert Farms) in Fairburn, GA.  J. P. Godard and his Equus Events handled the managing duties during this second week of the two week long “A” rated series.  The facility, owned by Olympic 3 Day Eventer Carl Bouckeart, once again received rave reviews from exhibitors and it is no surprise why.  “We have had outstanding feedback this year for the event,” said manager J. P. Godard.  “Thanks to Carl Bouckaert, Ritch Temple, and all of the staff here at Chatt Hills for allowing us to put on the show at their beautiful facility. We are really looking forward to putting on more events here in the future.”  From the gorgeous architecture of the stabling to the fabulous footing to the thousands of acres to ride, Chatt Hills is one of the premiere facilities in the country and it’s conveniently local to the hustle and bustle of downtown Atlanta make it a prime stop on the horse show calendar for the hunter/jumper set.

Chatt Hills was the place to be Saturday evening as all of the “hustle and bustle” was taking place in the jumper ring with 18 horse rider teams turning out for the $5,000 Atlanta Summerfest Jumper Classic.  H. J. Wings and Things of Tyrone, GA provided an old fashioned cook out for exhibitors and spectators to enjoy on the hill as they watched the competition below.  The party was sponsored by the Atlanta Summerfest Hospitality Sponsors: Brad Spragg and the Atlanta Hunt Club, Casey Whitaker, Elizabeth Warmington and Brooksgate Stable Inc., Harrison and Danielle Ford and Hillford Farm, Matt Martin and Windy Oaks Farm, and The Farm House.  7 out of the original field of 18 riders qualified their horses for the second round jump off over the J. P. Godard designed course.  In the end it was blue two weeks in a row for Aiken, SC’s Christina Jason as she guided her Tamino to the win with a clear effort and time of 38.753 blazing to the victory over Charles De Gunzburg’s Mambo De Lezeaux and Tryon, NC native Clayton Russell.  “It was a great two weeks of showing and I would like to thank Cathy and Daniel Geitner for giving me such great horses to ride,” said Jason. “Tamino was just great!”  Originally from Rochester, MI, Christina has been riding for the Geitner’s DFG Stables since last October and has already accumulated many top awards and championships in both the hunter and jumper ring.  Tamino is a 16 Hanoverian gelding in which Jason purchased from Vicky Miller in November of 2010.  Jason continued, “He took time off from November until May with his first show back being at the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club July show, so I am excited he rose to occasion tonight!”
