Katy, TX – April 1, 2011 -The Spring Gathering Charity Horse Show is just a few days away, and this prestigious hunter/jumper event would not be possible without the generous support of its sponsors. The competition offers over $250,000 in prize money, with an unprecedented $150,000 in hunter prize money. This exciting weeklong event will get underway on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, and run through April 10, 2011 at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in beautiful Katy, Texas. This unique hunter/jumper event draws the top competitors to Texas from around the country and benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

WHAT: An “AA” rated hunter and four-star jumper horse show produced by P.J.C.P Horse Shows and benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

BENEFICIARY:

The Spring Gathering Charity Horse show benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which works diligently to find a cure for diabetes through the support of research. JDRF is the largest charitable funder of and advocate for Type 1 Diabetes research. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found, people with Type 1 Diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times each day or use a pump – each and every day of their lives. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with Type 1 Diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.5 billion to diabetes research, including more than $107 million last year. More than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education.

HOURS: Wednesday through Sunday, from 7:30 a.m. to around 5 p.m.

ADMISSION: Complimentary during every day of showing

PARKING: On-site – There are also 50 amp & 30 amp Camper Hookups located directly on the showgrounds.

DIRECTIONS:

From Houston, take I-10 West and exit Mason Road, Exit 745. Go left (south) for three miles and the Center is on the left.

From San Antonio, take I-10 East and exit Mason Road, Exit 745. Go right (South) for three miles and the Center in on the left.

From Dallas take I-45 South and exit Beltway 8 (Sam Houston Toll Road) south to I-10. Take I-10 West to Mason Road, Exit 745. Go left (south) on Mason for three miles and the Center is located on the left.

From the Rosenberg-Richmond area and points south, take the Grand Parkway (Hwy 99) north. Exit Cinco Ranch Boulevard to Mason Road and go a left (north). The Center is located approximately 100 yards on the right.
