Kibbutz Yagur, Israel (May 7, 2014) – For a woman who dedicates her show jumping skills to making a name for the country of Israel in equestrian sports, the Saturday of May 3, 2014 was a big deal. Danielle Goldstein, a member of Israel’s first-ever Nations Cup show jumping team, was proud to have the chance to compete in the country that she represents all over the world.

The show jumping competition held on Saturday May 3 in Kibbutz Yagur, Israel was the sixth and last qualifier for the National Championships. Israel’s most talented show jumpers gathered to compete for the winning title and for a chance to qualify for the National Championships, which will also be held in Kibbutz Yagur on May 16-17, 2014.

Goldstein served as chef d’equipe for the Gold Medal winning jumping squad during the 2013 Maccabiah Games, which took place at Kibbutz Yagur, and now she will compete there in the National Championships. Goldstein works tirelessly toward her goal of making horseback riding a more popular and recognized sport in Israel. By competing under the Israeli flag in international competitions and as a major fan and proponent of the nonprofit organization T.E.A.M. Israel, Goldstein has made sure that her country is known all over the equestrian world. She was excited to be able to ride on Israel’s soil this weekend as she worked towards qualifying for the National Championships. “I am really honored and have wanted to do this for a long time, so I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to ride two horses at this event in preparation for the championships,” she said eagerly.

The two horses Goldstein rode were Thor, owned by Ronen Mesterman, and Pucy des Mortaings, owned by Orly Herbst. The first time Goldstein was able to meet and ride Thor and Pucy des Mortaings was the day before the competition. Despite not having the chance to practice on the two horses, Goldstein qualified with both of them for the National Championships. “I’m spending the next two weeks getting to know the horses and preparing and training for the championships.  I’m going to start both of them on the first day of the championships, and I’ll have to pick one for the second day if I qualify for it.”

Goldstein claimed professional status in 2012, and before that successfully competed in amateur show jumping for fifteen years. Her accomplishments include being chef d’equipe for the Israeli Jumping Team in the Maccabiah Games in 2013 (where her team earned gold medals), and also competing in shows such as the ECCO FEI European Championships in Denmark, and earning top place finishes at the $30,000 Fendi Cup at the Hampton Classic Horse Show, the $50,000 Sussex County Grand Prix and most recently at the CSI 4* Adequan Grand Prix in Wellington, FL. She now prepares to find out if the Israeli National Championships will bring yet another victory.
