Selcuk Koksalan and Carla Fly to Victory in the $10,000 Lactanase 1.35m Open Stake

Wellington, FL – September 17, 2019 – The ESP Fall Series continued with the ESP September competition this past weekend at Equestrian Village. The $10,000 Lactanase 1.35m Open Stake saw 18 total entries compete for a spot on the podium. Selcuk Koksalan of Wellington, FL flew to victory aboard his entry, Carla, after a 33.15-second jump-off round. Luis Larrazabal of Wellington, FL and Cassini Miraflores, owned by San Francisco Stables, LLC, were the only other pair to complete the second round, finishing in 33.739 seconds. Third place went to Tanimara Macari of Mexico, FL after she piloted Clio S around the first round in 71.357 seconds.

Course designer, Leopoldo Palacious of Venezuela, built the Sunday track which saw only two combinations complete the jump-off round. Koksalan and his nine-year-old mare also had the fastest time in the first course with 69.16 seconds. Francesca Damasceno of Palm Beach Gardens, FL rode Maidensway’s Cello Capital to a fourth-place finish after the pair’s first round time of 72.284 seconds with five faults added to their score, while the recent Open Stake champion, Samuel Parot of Wellington, FL, claimed fifth place after his 73.293-second round aboard Bahira S with six total faults added to their score.
