AMERICAN SADDLEBRED MUSEUM SET TO OPEN NEW YEAR-LONG EXHIBIT
Celebrities: Saddlebreds and Personalities from the Silver Screen, Cinema and History
LEXINGTON, Ky (January 11, 2011) – Lights, Camera, Action! The American Saddlebred Museum at the Kentucky Horse Park is readying its 2011 exhibit which will feature both Saddlebreds and Saddlebred owners that have played important roles in the movies, on television and throughout history.
Celebrities: Saddlebreds and Personalities from the Silver Screen, Cinema and History will open on Friday, Feb 18, 2011. On view will be an eclectic grouping of photographs and memorabilia featuring celebrity horses including My Friend Flicka, National Velvet and Fury (all registered Saddlebreds) along with human stars who rode Saddlebreds such as Clark Gable, Will Rogers and William Shatner. Visitors will learn that not only did Generals Grant and Sherman have Saddlebreds but so did politicians from Franklin Roosevelt to Harry Truman.
There will also be a short film playing featured clips of Saddlebreds that have appeared in the movies and on television.
The exhibit will run until Dec 30, 2011.
Admission to the American Saddlebred Museum is included with Kentucky Horse Park admission. The American Saddlebred Museum is open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Apr1 – Oct 31 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays Nov 1-Mar 31).

The Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm/theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man’s relationship with the horse. The park is an agency of the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet that hosted more than 1,000,000 visitors and campers, as well as 15,000 competition horses in more than 100 special events and horse shows in 2010. The park is home to the National Horse Center which comprises more than 30 national and regional equine organizations. Located at Exit 120, Interstate 75, just north of Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park is the place to get close to horses. Open daily April 1 to October 31, and Wednesday through Sunday, November 1 to March 31.
