Ocala, FL (September 15, 2012) – Competitors and horses at the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic were the most recent to benefit from the mobile unit of The Sanctuary Equine Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation Center.  With over 650 world-class reining horses attending, The Sanctuary was on hand to help horses prepare and be at their best for this big event. The most popular treatment, the Cold Saltwater Leg Spa, provided a way for Reiners to ice their legs right after they showed in preparation for the next day’s competition. The Cold Saltwater Leg Spa, a favorite among equestrian competitors in all disciplines, is the ideal treatment for legs. The 35-degree turbulated saltwater eliminates pain, reduces swelling and inflammation, removes heat, increases circulation, relieves sore feet and speeds healing.  The mobile unit offered a variety of other treatments as well including, Transpirator, Magna Wave and Laser.

“The Classic is a world-class show and we were pleased to have the mobile unit on hand to enhance these horses’ performance,” said Terry Angelo, who manages The Sanctuary’s Wellington, Florida location.  “All of the people were great to work with and the horses clearly enjoyed their time in the Cold Saltwater Leg Spa as well as our other therapies.  The Sanctuary is dedicated to providing top quality rehabilitation and conditioning options to equine athletes and many of our services are based on therapies used by professional human athletes and sports teams.”  The Sanctuary has built a solid reputation on their ability to condition and rehabilitate equines of all disciplines, and the mobile will also travel to the Annual All American Quarter Horse Congress Championships in Columbus, Ohio on October 5-28, 2012.

The Sanctuary Equine Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Center’s main campus is located in Ocala, Florida. The 30-acre, state-of-the-art facility is a multi-million dollar rehabilitation and conditioning facility that features the most advanced conditioning and rehab equipment available in the world today. In addition to the mobile unit, The Sanctuary offers an state-of-the-art Equine Hyperbaric Chamber, which is box stall type for freedom of movement while therapy is administered, an Aqua Pacer Water Treadmill – the safest, most effective water treadmill available, a 110 foot long, 14 foot deep inline equine swimming pool with therapeutic water, a 5/8 mile race track, two Eurocisers with therapeutic tracking surface – one under cover and one outdoors, Solariums, and Temperature-controlled veterinary inspection area with semi-surgical lighting, and rubberized surfaces in most areas.  “The Sanctuary’s therapies are very similar to what professional human athletes undergo during training and competition, and we are happy to bring that level of care and technology to all of the equines we treat, from Olympic athletes to world champions to competitors at all levels,” Angelo explains.
