Wellington, FL (April 18, 2012) – Rebecca Cohen and Downtown, affectionately known as ‘Daddy,’ recently put in excellent tests during the Global Dressage Festival Nations Cup National Show, riding to success with top scores.  Cohen, who rides and trains with coaches like Robert Dover and Steffen Peters, has her sights set on competing in Kentucky at the Junior/Young Rider Championships this summer and the National Championships at Gladstone.  Cohen rode in the Junior Team Test with a score of 70.209% and Junior Individual test with a score of 69.671%.

Downtown, aka Daddy, is a 17.2 hand Westphalian gelding that she has been riding and working with for three years, and recently her scores have been climbing slowly higher as the pair strives for excellence in the arena.  “Daddy is perfect,” said Cohen.  “I am so excited to continue competing him. My favorite thing about him is his personality.  He is extremely funny and always makes everyone in the barn laugh.”

Cohen went on to say that the highlight of her show was the 70% she scored on the team test ride.  “I just had the feeling that Daddy was saying, “Yes, I’m giving you my attention” before I went in the ring.  The trot tour was the best it has ever been.”

She also will be extending her experiences in the dressage world into written form as she will be the author of a dressage blog for Sidelines magazine.  Cohen’s creative mind will be combined with her love for dressage in the blog, where she will comment on the sport, players, and events as well as document her journey through the levels on Daddy.  Appropriately entitled “Square Halts and Elegant Extensions,” as those are a few of the things Cohen strives for in her tests, the blog will include her road to the National Championships in June and the North American Junior Young Rider Championships in July.  Visit www.sidelinesnews.com to read Cohen’s blog, “Square Halts and Elegant Extensions.”
