Please Help the Animal Victims of the Hurricane

Just a few days ago, Hurricane Isaac pounded Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, leaving behind a trail of devastation and heartache for our friends and supporters and for countless animals in need.  Many residents here in New Orleans are still without power, while the city was spared the worst of the hurricane’s wrath.

Please, can you support our disaster relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Isaac?

Animals affected by Isaac need help across the state.  We are working with our chapters and partnering with several local groups to mobilize needed supplies, resources and volunteers in the trenches.

Your contribution will make a big difference for animals in Louisiana.
Please DONATE if you can.

The good news is that our sanctuary animals are safe and sound, as we safely weathered the hurricane with minimal damage.  While there is a big clean-up ahead of us, we are blessed that the humane society animals are secure.  We are now working hard to get them to loving homes up north.

Funds are now needed for feed and supplies, volunteer food and housing, building supplies for damaged facilities, as well as medical supplies and veterinary bills.

Please, although it will be urgently needed, do not send us animal food. As we learned in Katrina, such generous gifts may not be able to be adequately protected from the elements and rodents and might therefore be wasted.  We may be able to arrange for warehouse space in the future, but at present, monetary donations or gift cards to WalMart, Petsmart or Petco for the purchase of food would be your best choice.  Please send to our P.O. Box at 740321, New Orleans, LA  70174.

Thank you so much for caring.
Your Friends at the Humane Society of Louisiana
