Jacksonville, FL – October 1, 2012 – From the moment show organizer James Lala contacted Mason Phelps about his idea for the new Southeast Medal Finals, Phelps was on board to lend his support.

Lala was inspired by the New England Equitation Finals, founded by Phelps and other New England professionals, whose goal was to boost equitation in New England.

“Some years back, I founded and created the New England Horsemen’s Association Hunt Seat Medal along with some other professionals, and I served as president of the New England Horseman’s Council,” said Phelps. “As a Floridian, I feel it is important to support the Southeast Medal Finals, and we did so wholeheartedly.”

Lala partnered with Classic Company’s veteran show manager, Bob Bell, and created the new show. It was a resounding success and has become a significant contribution to the horse show offerings in the area. To top it off, the Southeast Medal Finals was chosen to host the ASPCA Maclay Regionals.

Phelps donated the beautiful perpetual trophy for the Southeast Medal Finals class for juniors. The class was the featured attraction of Saturday night, September 22, 2012. The trophy will be inscribed with the first winner of the new important class, Margaret Collins, who performed brilliantly aboard Samy.

Phelps Media Group International also provided promotional support to the show in its first year, which included press releases, announcements and coverage of the show.

“We are thrilled at the success of the inaugural Southeast Medal Finals and happy to spread the word about this important show,” shared Phelps.
