Petplan to Sponsor New Series on Horse & Country TV Featuring Equestrian Legend Lucinda Green

17 June 2013 – Horse & Country TV (Sky Channel 280), the specialist equestrian sports and lifestyle network, today announced the launch of a new six-part series featuring one of the true legends of equestrian sport, six times Badminton winner Lucinda Green. Petplan Masterclass with Lucinda is sponsored by specialist equine insurer Petplan and is based on the “Cross Country the Safe Way” clinics Petplan has run in partnership with Lucinda for the last 13 years, premiering at 8.30pm on Tuesday 25th June 2013.

At the heart of Lucinda’s philosophy are the principles of safety and the development of mutual confidence between horse and rider, which is reflected throughout the series. Each episode features riders and horses of different abilities being coached by Lucinda on how to deal with the challenges posed by a range of fences including skinnies, ditches and drops.

Lucinda commented, “My aim is to develop the confidence and thus the partnership between horse and rider through setting them various challenges to empower them to feel that together they can ‘get the job done’.”

The series is presented by Horse & Country TV’s Jenny Rudall, who said, “When I started riding Lucinda was an absolute hero to me and it was a real privilege to work alongside her on the Masterclasses. I can assure viewers that, whatever level you ride at, you’ll learn something new watching these shows.”

Head of Marketing for Petplan, Isabella von Mesterhazy, added, “We’re delighted to be bringing our longstanding relationship with Lucinda to a wider audience through this series of Masterclasses. Rider safety and helping to develop their knowledge has always been at the heart of our business and no one embodies this better than Lucinda.”

The topics covered in each episode are:
#1 – Cross country preparation
#2 – Skinnies
#3 – Ditches
#4 – Drops and steps
#5 – Water jumps
#6 – Corners and riding the course as a whole

Petplan Masterclass with Lucinda was filmed entirely on location at Swalcliffe Park Equestrian near Banbury by Cavewood Productions for Horse & County TV.
