GEORGETOWN, KY – APRIL 25, 2016 – Old Friends, the Thoroughbred Retirement Farm in Georgetown, KY, will host its Annual Homecoming Sponsored by Red Brand Fence on Sunday May 8th, 2016 from 2 pm to 6 pm.

The event is an open house and fundraiser and 2016 marks its 12th year. Tickets are $25 for the general public and $15 for members (children 12 and under are free).

Reservations can be made online by visiting the Old Friends website at www.oldfriendsequine.org and clicking the Booking Button.

The day will include a BBQ buffet by Proud Mary, farm tours, live music by Shades of Grass and live and silent auctions of racing memorabilia, photography, artwork, jewelry, pottery, books and a fine collection of collectible stallion halters, a list of which will be announced shortly.

The event will be highlighted by visits with the farm’s two Kentucky Derby and Preakness winners: War Emblem (2002) and Silver Charm (1997), both of whom were returned to the United States from stud duty in Japan.

Other new retirees include Touch Gold, who thwarted Silver Charm’s run for the Triple Crown by winning the 1997 Belmont Stakes, Alphabet Soup, who famously beat Cigar in the 1996 Breeders’ Cup Classic, Game On Dude, winner of three consecutive runnings of the Santa Anita Handicap, and Genuine Reward, one of only two live foals born to Kentucky Derby winner Genuine Risk.

Also on hand this year will be the hot pink Spotz Gelato truck familiar to many Lexingtonians. The ice-cream vendors will be selling homemade, small-batch Gelato in custom flavors inspired by Old Friends horses.
