Mississippi Gulf Coast Winter Classic Week V Is an Equus Foundation Best Performance Competition

Gramercy Park piloted by Thomas Brennan. Flashpoint Photography.

This week, the Gulf Coast Classic Company is pleased to announce that it is an Equus Foundation Best Performance Competition. The Best Performance Competitions are a select group of horse shows that offer the Best Performance class, applaud riders’ efforts and give back to our equine partners.

For only $20.00 paid at the show office, which is tax deductible, riders will wear the Official Armband while they compete this week.  Judges select the winners from the competitors wearing the Official Armband.

Besides being eligible for this special recognition, the $20 will help reduce the unwanted horse population, help to retrain horses for multiple careers and make equine therapy available to more people.

Many unwanted horses are slaughtered every year. Instead, they can be rescued and rehabilitated.  Many can be retrained for useful lives as therapy horses. Close to 50 million people, young and old, have disabilities.  One in 88 children lives with Autism and one in four veterans have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  Equine therapy is not only effective, it is fun and engages people with special needs in ways no other therapy can.

Therapeutic Riding programs are one of the beneficiaries of the Equus Foundation, dedicated to help horses and heal people.
