Lee Carter Joins USEF as Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development

Lexington, Ky. – The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) is pleased to announce that Lee Carter will be joining the USEF as Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development. Carter will manage corporate partner relationships while working closely with USEF show organizers to build programs and events that broaden the scope of equestrian sport.

Carter brings a wealth of knowledge to the USEF, having served in multiple senior event management and operations roles for organizations including the National Tour Association, Host Communications, and most recently as Executive Director of Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI). In his role with EEI, Carter oversaw the organization of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, one of six four-star eventing competitions in the world. Carter was successful in working closely with key partners and sponsors to grow the event and increase its awareness and profile. As the Senior Vice President at the National Tour Association, Carter was key in developing and implementing new business opportunities as he oversaw and planned the association’s North American and European events.

In this newly created position within the USEF Marketing Department, Carter will work as part of the senior leadership team to understand the needs of key show organizers across the U.S. and collaborate with them to develop mutually beneficial programs. He will also serve as the primary contact for the Federation’s numerous partners and sponsors, understanding their needs and providing strategic opportunities.

“We are thrilled that Lee will be joining the senior team at USEF,” said USEF Chief Marketing Officer, Colby Connell. “His proven track record of success sets him up well for his role here, where he will be working to more closely align with our event organizers and major sponsors to conceive and execute programs that move the sport forward and benefit our membership.”

In response to the announcement, Carter said, “While at EEI, I was introduced to the passion and enthusiasm of equestrian fans. I’m excited to now join the USEF team and to work closely with our partners and organizers to build on that enthusiasm across all equestrian sports.”

Carter will assume his new role with the USEF in October.
