Women’s Horse Industry

WHIA Newsletter August 31, 2010

August has turned out to be a great month for the WHIA as far as getting new members. As you can tell from the new member listings we have been sending you, we are bringing in some really wonderful people in the horse industry.

Please take a few minutes when we send out the new member listings to contact them and welcome them to our group. I know I harp on this but the WHIA is a business network and if you really want to get your money’s worth out of your membership, you have to do a little work. You have to pick up the phone and say “Hi” and see what you can do for them. And, of course, let them know what you need. I have found over the years that men really know how to network better than women. It’s in their DNA. They coach little league teams so they can make contacts, they go out to various outings so that they can make contacts, and they are not shy in picking up the phone and saying “Hi” to a total stranger. “Networking,” as someone once said, only works if you work at it. Networking builds a “family” around you that can help you in many, many ways.
