Wellington, FL – March 17, 2010 – The ninth annual Challenge of the Americas competition and Gala were held this past Saturday night, March 13, at International Polo Club Palm Beach. Held as a benefit for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the event raised approximately $200,000 in support of finding a cure for a disease that has affected so many lives.

Following Team International The Seley Parker Group Merrill Lynch’s quadrille victory, the Challenge Gala got underway with an evening of dinner and dancing. This year’s gala, a sold-out affair, was held in the beautiful Grand Marque tent at International Polo Club Palm Beach and featured a sit-down dinner, live auction and dancing. Top riders, trainers and judges of the dressage world attended the Gala, along with generous sponsors and supporters.

Held as a benefit for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for the last nine years, the Challenge of the Americas has raised over $1.2 million since its inception in 2002.  This year they will once again add a generous donation to that total.

Aiken, South Carolina, February 26, 2010 – Bridle Creek Equestrian Development and Phillip and Evie Dutton are pleased to announce the third annual Olympic Gala in Aiken, SC, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 7:30pm. Supported most generously by Bruce Duchossois and Jake Wetzel, the Olympic Gala gives the Aiken Community a chance to come together in support of the U.S. Eventing High Performance programs as a portion of the proceeds will go to the United States Equestrian Team Foundation.

“Partnering with Bridle Creek Equestrian Development,” Evie Dutton explained, “we wanted to put together a fundraiser in Aiken to benefit the USET Foundation and the High Performance riders in their quest for the Olympics and the World Equestrian Games. This is our third year, and we’ve had a lot of fun doing it.”

Duchossois added, “Gatherings like the Aiken Olympic Gala allow everyone to participate. The event is fun and affordable, and it gives young riders the chance to be exposed to world-class riders. The goal has been to get the community to participate and to support the USET Foundation. If each zone or area had events such as this (Olympic Gala) for every discipline, it would certainly aid the USET Foundation in achieving its goal of raising awareness for our high performance equestrians.” Read more> http://www.horsesinthesouth.com/article/article_detail.aspx?id=10373

Striking for a Good Cause at AHJF’s Bowling for Equestrians

10-KaylaBrusie-AHJF-BowlingFebruary 14, 2010 – Lake Worth, FL – The atmosphere at the fourth annual Bowling for Equestrians was electrifying.  From the thunder of the bowling balls as they sped down the alleys to the misty fog that made the psychedelic lighting system sparkle. The game room was showered with kids testing their skills while young and old alike threw bowling balls down the alleys in hopes of a spare or strike.

The fundraiser, which is the brainchild of the American Hunter-Jumper Foundation, was held at Greenacres Bowl in Lake Worth, FL, on Saturday evening, February 14th for the benefit of the AHJF’s Emergency Relief Fund (ERF), a cause which helps horse(wo)men in need.

Dressage rider Ashley Holzer; hunter riders and trainers Louise Serio, Geoff Teall, Peter Pletcher and Danny Arendt (AHJF South Central Regional Chairman); jumper rider Christian Currey; veterinarians Steve and Jeanette Sewell (Palm Beach Equine) and Kit and Susan Miller (Miller and Associates); announcers Oliver Kennedy (who created an atmosphere of excitement around the raffle), Brian Lookabill (anthem singer for the upcoming AHJF Hunter Classic on February 20th) and Gerry Briggs (a former recipient of the ERF to help offset the medical bills of a heart attack); course designer Michael Rheinheimer, Michele Powers (former owner of Dover Saddlery) and many more veterans were among those you could hear chatting and cheering for groups, barns and individuals.  The up-and-coming to seasoned veterans ate, drank, tossed bowling balls, enjoyed catch-up conversations, shared jokes, won raffle prizes, played video games and more to a backdrop of rock and roll music, all for a worthy cause.
