30 May 2010 – Oliver Townend (GBR) showed all the toughness for which event riders are renowned when he gave Ashdale Cruise Master a positive ride to score a convincing pillar-to-post victory at Tattersalls (IRL), the sixth leg of the 2010 HSBC FEI World Cup Eventing series.
Just five weeks ago he and the talented Irish-bred grey gelding, a new ride this season, took a bruising fall at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, but the partnership was emphatically back on song at Ireland’s premier event where they led from the outset.
“It’s what I came to do,” said Townend, “and I now just want to put the fall behind me. He’s an unbelievable horse and is progressing all the time. I’m so grateful to the owners (Henry and Edna Harding) for giving me the ride.”

The Tryon May Classic was a great success again this year. I am not sure it was the sterling silver trophies, the great footing, the small numbers in the classes, the mimosa served ringside on Sunday or just the fact that Harmond Field and Tryon being a great place for horse shows, but everyone seemed to have a good time. For those who attended, thanks for your support and hope to see you again next year.
Grand Champion Hunter – The Irene Acker Trophy was won by Cezanne, owned and shown by Lillian Hahn.
The Gordon Wright Amateur Trophy was also won by: Lily and Cezanne. Lily told me during the photo shoot receiving the trophy that this show was a great show to get ready for Devon next weekend. Best of luck for Lily and Cezanne.

SAUGERTIES, NY (May 31, 2010) — Junior rider Kelsey Hart would have been happy with a second-place finish in the $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Derby on Saturday afternoon at HITS-on-the-Hudson in Saugerties, New York.
However, when she posted a second-round score of 87 to take the overall lead scoring the improbable victory became a reality. Hart, a senior at the Albany Academies, was so surprised by her victory because she beat out one of her trainers, Amy Momrow, to win the class.
Momrow and Deborah Brenner’s Star Quest Serenade were in the driver’s seat after scoring an 87 in the first round, while Hart and her horse Agostino were in fourth place after the first round. “I was expecting Amy to win,” said Hart. “I would have been happy with second place, but I am thrilled to come out the winner.”
