Ocala, FL (April 12, 2010) – Rolex W, one of Chester Weber’s distinguished and award-winning equine teammates, has lent his artistic horse skills to the ReRun Thoroughbred Charity Moneigh collection. Rolex not only painted a Moneigh with his nose, but due to his name and his fame, the painting will be on display in a Lexington art gallery during the Rolex Three-Day Event.

“We are honoring Rolex W in April during the Rolex Three-Day Event at the Kentucky Horse Park,” said Mary Simons, of the ReRun Organization. “Rolex’s painting will be on display at Your Frame of Mind Galleries in the Lexington Convention Center in April. Also, his other painting will be auctioned off in our semi-annual eBay auction beginning April 25.”

Weber, the eight-time National Four-In-Hand Combined Driving Champion, lent the artistic skills of Rolex to the charity organization. Rolex helped the ReRun Thoroughbred charity by painting masterpieces known as “Moneighs.” The name Moneigh is derived from the name of the famous artist and the sound a horse makes.

Ocala, FL (April 9, 2010) – Bruce Ekstrom and Chuck McCallister were again in the winner’s circle at the Pro Am Benefit Classic Horse Show, wowing the crowd with their spectacular high stepping Hackney Horses and Ponies.  Ekstrom and McCallister, of Tuigpaarden Farms of Ocala, Florida and Shelbyville, Kentucky, competed with their Hackneys at the recent Pro Am Benefit Classic in Perry, Ga.

Ekstrom and his Hackney Horse stallion, Halstead’s Viking, were triumphant in the Hackney Harness Horse Stake. When asked, Ekstrom said the win was wonderful (a bit scary to mention as he hopes to continue their success but this victory is the beginning of Viking’s third season without defeat).  Though the win was momentous, a more special event took place Easter Sunday upon their arrival home from the show – Halstead’s Viking’s first purebred Hackney foal, a filly, was born.

Wellington, FL and East Aurora, NY – April 8, 2010 – Charlie Jacobs rode his top mount Quidditch II to a final win in the twelfth week of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. The duo stopped the clock at 36.176 seconds for the win in the Amateur-Owner Jumper High Power & Speed class. Jacobs and Quidditch II have had a very successful Winter Equestrian Festival show circuit which resulted in the pair earning the Amateur-Owner High Jumper Circuit Championship. Jacobs was elated with the final results of the entire circuit and was proud not only of his own accomplishments but his entire family’s accomplishments for Deeridge Farm.

Jacobs appreciates bringing Quidditch II to the ring well rested and feeling good. Over the 12 weeks of the circuit, the pair elected to show for 6 weeks. Jacobs employed the pattern of showing one week and then taking the following week off. Jacobs explained, “I elected to show Quidditch every other week so that by the end of the circuit she would have jumped a total of 6 weeks. During her weeks off I would not point her at a single jump. Instead I would take her out to the meadow at my family’s farm and we would play a little game during our flat sessions. She is a very hot horse and the more you flat her the more animated and excited she progressively gets. We usually began with a very low-key trot for roughly 15 minutes in order for her to warm up and stretch her muscles. She remained quiet throughout the entire trotting portion of our flat work. In fact she was so quiet I could loose rein her around the field if I choose to do so. However almost on cue she would begin a series of playful bucks as soon as I would ask her to canter. She sees that open field and she just wants to run and have fun. I think that will be part of her routine for some time and I just enjoy how athletic and playful she has become.”

Wellington, FL (April 9, 2010) – Alissa Kinsey was back in the winner’s circle in the $10,000 Adult Amateur 18-35 Jumper Classic during the 12th and final week of the Winter Equestrian Festival. Kinsey, who has captured the Classic title seven times aboard her 13-year-old Hanoverian mare, Grisset, won the class this time on her 10-year-old Holsteiner mare Caretina.

Sponsored by Classic Equine Equipment, a nationally recognized leader in quality horse stall systems and stable accessories, Kinsey has proven to be the one to beat in the Classic Jumper class throughout the WEF circuit. “It has been a wonderful experience watching Alissa set her sights on winning the Classic and then doing it,” said Adam Busse, President of Classic Equine Equipment. “She won the WEF Circuit Championship on Grisset this year, which is highly commendable, and then this week she was back in the winner’s circle on Caretina, another horse she owns.”

Kinsey imported Caretina four years ago and said she plans to qualify her this year for the NAL and WIHS. “She was accepted last year but I wanted to concentrate on Grisset, so she stayed home,” Kinsey said.

Tampa, FL – April 9, 2010 – It was the first rainy day at the Tampa Equestrian Festival as the Children’s Jumpers and the Adult Amateur Jumpers competed in their Power & Speed classes. Today’s top prize was awarded to Abby Gates, who was fault-free during both the power and speed phases of the Adult Amateur Jumper class with Change of Thyme. Later in the day, Alex Vespico and Fair Play had the winning round in the Children’s Jumper class.

Today’s classes were held in the Covered Arena at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds, with courses designed by Philip J De Vita. Each class was scored under Table II, 2(c), meaning that riders had to first compete over the power phase, and those riders that completed it without fault advanced to the speed phase. The power phase featured two double combinations, while the speed phase featured a tight inside turn to a tall vertical.
