Over 4,000 kids and their 4-H leaders flocked to Lexington from all over the state for an introduction to the eight equestrian disciplines that will be featured at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games this fall. ASPC/AMHR Director of Operations, Zona Schneider and the ASPC/AMHR Registry Queen, Ali Olander, were on hand to answer questions about the small equine. Attendees were able to obtain the information about the national organization, youth membership forms, the 2010 Youth program and fun educational worksheets and buttons depicting small equines. ALERT: $50,000 USHJA/Chronicle of the Horse International Hunter Derby Round One Venue MovedThis year’s $50,000 USHJA/Chronicle of the Horse International Hunter Derby will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 2-3. It is a two round competition. The first round, previously scheduled to be held at The Stadium on the grass field, will now be held in the E. R. Mische Grand Hunter Ring on Friday at approximately 3 p.m. The second round of the top 25 is still at the International Arena. The competition will follow the FTI WEF Circuit Champion Awards, which is slated to start at approximately 6:30 p.m. The decision to move the venue for Round One of the derby was due mainly to logistics for the riders and trainers that came forward regarding finishing the show day and getting a horse prepared in time to do the derby, said show manager David Burton Jr. The majority of the riders entered in the class are in agreement that the new location will serve the class and exhibitors better, although most were looking forward to showing on the grass derby field. Since the change has been announced, entries in the class increased from 38 to 48 horses. Motivation from Moshi 14, by Jane SavoieDressage riders tend to be perfectionists. I’ve noticed that dressage riders are often very tough on themselves if things aren’t exactly right. What if your ride today was just a tiny bit better than it was yesterday? Would that be enough? Jane tells people to invent reasons to celebrate. She knows that those “little bit betters” very quickly add up to a whole lot better! When you go to the barn today, pick something to work on and notice if, at the end of your ride, it’s just a little bit better. Then celebrate! Life is not a destination, it’s a journey. Love, Moshi Jane Savoie |
