Wellington, FL and East Aurora, NY – March 24, 2010 – Darragh Kenny piloted North Star Ventures of East Aurora LLC’s V Power to two big wins during Week Ten of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, FL, March 17-21. The pair not only topped the seventy-five horse field in the $2000 1.30m, but also the fifty-three horse field in the $1,500 YJC 7/8-year-old Championship Qualifier. In addition to showing with Kenny, V Power also competes in the Junior Jumpers with Charlotte Jacobs.

Purchased by North Star Ventures of East Aurora LLC in November of 2009, V Power has been a valuable addition to the Jacobs’ string of horses. Kenny has worked with the eight-year-old gelding since his arrival, and remarked, “While the horse is still young and needs a little bit of training, he is fantastic! He has great scope and is super careful. When I took him in the 7/8-year-old YJC this last week V Power did not knock a thing down. He has a big stride, and we are always leaving strides out where everyone else puts one in.  Lastly, I love how this horse turns he can turn back really short with no problem.”

Kenny and Jacobs will share the ride on V Power over the course of the next two weeks at WEF. Jacobs trains with John Brennan and Missy Clark of North Run, both of whom are looking forward to V Power’s future with Jacobs. North Star Ventures of East Aurora LLC finish out WEF in Wellington, FL, before heading back to East Aurora, NY, for the summer.

March V Show Judge and April Series Finals Judges!

There has been a change to our judge for the March V Show. Unfortunately Mr. Craig Johnston has a scheduling conflict with a large Reining horse show he going to be participating in. He will be judging our May V show instead.

We were very fortunate to find an excellent judge on short notice. Remember the large show that Mr. Johnston is participating in? While the exhibitors at that show have to be there early which caused the conflict for Craig judging the March V show, the judges of that large reining do not have to be there early; Mr. Carlton Crowe agreed to judge our March V show before leaving to Katy, Texas to judge the NRBC!

Thank you Carlton and I am sure the exhibitors will appreciate your expert opinion.

Wellington, FL (March 24, 2010) – Trainer Christopher Payne has his sights set on winning the Baby Green Hunter Circuit Championship with the four-year-old Dutch gelding Gracious, and the pair are well on their way thanks to a fourth division win. Payne and Gracious won their fourth championship in the Baby Greens, sponsored by Draper Equine Therapy, during the tenth week of the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival.

“Chris is a very talented rider and he has really brought out the best in Gracious,” said Kat Wojtylak, Product Manager of Draper Equine Therapy. “We wish them the best of luck in winning the Circuit Championship.”

Payne, who is the owner and trainer of New Hope in Cincinnati, Ohio, along with David Belford, is pleased with Gracious’ level of consistency. “He hadn’t done a lot before we came to WEF but he has figured out quite nicely what to do in the ring,” Payne said. “From here he will move up to the Pre-Greens and then to the amateur divisions with his owner Maggie Little.”

Loxahatchee, FL – March 24, 2010 – Supporters of the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center (VTRC) showed up in droves to the Great Charity Challenge at the Winter Equestrian Festival. The exciting show jumping competition raised over $25,000 to support the Center’s mission to turn disability into ability. The event was held at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center on Saturday, March 20, 2010, and was preceded by a tailgate event for VTRC.

Over 100 people cheered on the VTRC team during this year’s Great Charity Challenge. The team for VTRC featured Olympian Lauren Hough, junior rider Sara Ketcham, and amateur rider Tracey Weinberg, and was sponsored by Roger and Jennifer Smith. VTRC had the largest cheering section at the event, and volunteers made “Barn Palm Palms” out of green hay string and riding crops to show their support.

The Great Charity Challenge donated $10,000 to all of the charities that participated in the event. At the end of the night Edward Kochetova donated $15,000 for the team that finished third to give to another charity. The team sponsored by Hunter Harrison placed third, and Harrison to donate the money to VTRC, bringing their grand total to $25,000.

An International Day of Rallies for America’s Beloved Herds

Cloud_in_Neat_light_Horz_red

DC, LA, London, Las Vegas: March for Mustangs This Thursday!

Dear Supporters,
I just returned from the Arrowheads and after much long distance glassing with binoculars and spotting scope I was able to spot Cloud and his family with his little daughter, Jasmine; Flint and his family including young Jasper, as well as Bolder and his family with his pale buckskin filly, Jewel. All looked great from about a mile away across deep Big Coulee Canyon. I’ll be sending out more details and photos from this winter trip soon.

For now, I’d like to be the first to tell you that this Thursday, March 25th, the March for Mustangs will take place not only by the White House in Washington DC but on the Las Vegas Strip, by the Los Angeles Federal Building and in front of the US Embassy in London! In D.C. we’re honored to have award-winning actress and advocate, Wendie Malick speak to the crowd at the rally. Wendie will be joined by long time advocate and advisor on the original 1971 Wild Horse and Burro Act, Hope Ryden; author RT Fitch, Filmmaker James Kleinert and many, many more! We are especially pleased to announce that country music artist Clay Canfield will be at the rally to sing his incredible song “Wild Horses” and more before we march to the BLM office with signs and banners.
