Lexington, KY (March 31, 2010) – The American Shetland Pony Club and The American Miniature Horse Registry (ASPC/AMHR) attended the Kentucky Equine Youth Festival at the Kentucky Horse Park this past month to introduce their small equine to Kentucky youth.
Over 4,000 kids and their 4-H leaders flocked to Lexington from all over the state for an introduction to the eight equestrian disciplines that will be featured at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games this fall.
ASPC/AMHR Director of Operations, Zona Schneider and the ASPC/AMHR Registry Queen, Ali Olander, were on hand to answer questions about the small equine. Attendees were able to obtain the information about the national organization, youth membership forms, the 2010 Youth program and fun educational worksheets and buttons depicting small equines.
This year’s $50,000 USHJA/Chronicle of the Horse International Hunter Derby will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 2-3. It is a two round competition. The first round, previously scheduled to be held at The Stadium on the grass field, will now be held in the E. R. Mische Grand Hunter Ring on Friday at approximately 3 p.m. The second round of the top 25 is still at the International Arena. The competition will follow the FTI WEF Circuit Champion Awards, which is slated to start at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The decision to move the venue for Round One of the derby was due mainly to logistics for the riders and trainers that came forward regarding finishing the show day and getting a horse prepared in time to do the derby, said show manager David Burton Jr. The majority of the riders entered in the class are in agreement that the new location will serve the class and exhibitors better, although most were looking forward to showing on the grass derby field. Since the change has been announced, entries in the class increased from 38 to 48 horses.

Mark It Famous has qualifications in the Texas Classic Futurity and the West Texas Futurity while Jess So Sixy was an All American Futurity and Ruidoso Futurity finalist.
Mark It Famous is in sharp form after winning his only two starts this year, each at Sunland Park. He is ready to step forward in the West Texas Derby after drawing out to win his derby trial by 1 1/2 lengths in the fastest qualifying time of :18.997 for the 400 yards.

Meydan is the name behind the United Arab Emirates’ landmark racecourse, the iconic new green 67 million square feet, integrated development, whose vision is to be ‘the lungs of Dubai’ and its environmental voice has the horse at its very heart. The magnificent setting was the home to the 2010 Dubai World Cup, with a state of the art racetrack and also featuring equestrian facilities as part of a major business and conference district.
One of FEI’s most prominent series, the 2010 Meydan FEI Nations Cup, which will take place from 13 May to 6 August, will feature prestigious national Jumping teams competing at eight of the best venues throughout Europe with a final event at the world famous Dublin Horse Show.
Camden, SC — March 31, 2010 — The debut of the Camden Spring Fling show, April 7-11, is mere days away. Event manager Lewis Pack wishes to announce new schedule changes which affect the Junior and Amateur riders in particular.
Divisions for the junior and amateur exhibitors have been moved to Saturday and Sunday versus the original Friday start. “We realize that many of our young riders are still in school and our adult riders have work schedules to contend with, so it was decided moving these classes to the weekend would serve them best,” Pack explained.
Another change will be the use of the Main outdoor arena for both the hunters and jumpers during the first 3 days of show. Jumpers will move to a separate arena for their weekend schedule on Saturday and Sunday. “Ideally we want to make sure visitors to this area have the time to explore Camden and enjoy all the area has to offer. Shifting some of the rings should allow them this chance,” Pack said.

Wellington, FL – March 31, 2010 – Pony Lane Farm’s up and coming young rider, 13-year-old Madeline Thatcher, had an excellent week competing at the 2010 Winter Equestrian Festival for the show’s eleventh series on March 24-28, 2010. Madeline had an exciting second place finish in the week’s $10,000 Low Junior Jumper Classic riding Pablis, and was thrilled with the performance of her horses throughout the week. Based out of Bluffdale, UT, and Wellington, FL, Pony Lane Farm is home to Madeline and older sister Kelsey Thatcher, who both train with Maggie Jayne of Our Day Farm in Elgin, IL.
The $10,000 Low Junior Jumper Classic was held on Sunday afternoon with a total of 66 entries showing over the challenging course set by Ken Krome. Madeline showed two horses, Victor and Pablis, in the class and was one of twenty three entries to jump clear over the first round course with Pablis. Just six entries were able to clear the difficult jump-off course, and Madeline and Pablis rose to the challenge. The pair jumped double clear and their time landed just 3/10ths of a second behind the leader to finish in second place.
