Stuttgart (GER), 22 November 2009 – Ludger Beerbaum kept the home crowd very happy indeed when racing to victory in the fifth leg of the 2009/2010 Rolex FEI World Cup Jumping series in Stuttgart, Germany this afternoon.  Riding the eight year old Gotha he grabbed the advantage with a determined run in the nine-horse jump-off and withstood a fierce challenge from the on-form Frenchman Michel Robert who had to settle for runner-up spot with Kellemoi de Pepita. Today’s glittering line-up also included Alltech FEI European individual silver medallists Carsten-Otto Nagel and Corradina who took third for Germany ahead of Olympic silver medallist Rolf-Goran Bengtsson from Sweden in fourth and reigning individual European Champion, Kevin Staut, in fifth.

This result now moves Beerbaum into fourth position on the Rolex FEI World Cup Jumping leaderboard which continues to be led by Switzerland’s Daniel Etter. Read more> http://www.horsesinthesouth.com/article/article_detail.aspx?id=8971

BLM Plan Could Make the Mustang as Rare as the Buffalo

buffalo-200

HOUSTON, (Horseback) – Of the 14,000 wild horses the Bureau of Land Management will take from their wilderness homes next year, the agency will only return 2,200 to the wild.

A substantial number of the horses taken in BLM “gathers” will be mares. And of those, the agency says it will render 800 incapable of reproducing, or almost 40 percent of the heard strength returning to the wild. Equine geneticists claim the government’s plan is to eliminate wild horses from the American West in favor of cattle leases where ranchers pay a $1.35 per head per month.

By Steven Long, http://www.horsebackmagazine.com/index.html

Under this formula, there will be precious few Mustangs left in the West a generation from now. Wild horse lovers claim it is a rape of the national wildlife heritage comparable to the 19th century destruction of the buffalo herds that once roamed the land. IPHDA Offers More Ways to Win with Personal Achievement!

IPHDA has added a new way to win award points for personal achievement.

These are IPHDA’s most important awards.

Being competitive is addicting, just ask anyone that’s winning!

By offering exhibitors awards for personal achievements we hope to encourage more wet saddle pads and more entries which allows our members to get valuable tips from our judges and together encourage advanced training and horsemanship skills.

With these awards IPHDA hopes to help all our exhibitors advance to where they are competitive in any equine event, not just PHD.

Personal Achievement Award Points

  • Personal achievement award points will be based on the scores each exhibitor receives.
  • For every 5 satisfactory or very good scores (0 or +1/2) that a rider receives he will earn 1 award point.
  • These points will cumulative as well.
    • Example: a rider scores a 68 1/2 in a level 2 pattern, the judge evaluated his maneuvers as 5 satisfactory or 0, 5 improvement needed or -1/2, and 2 very good or +1/2, for a total of 7 0s and +1/2s. The rider will earn 1 award point and will earn another award point when they earn 3 more 0s or +1/2s evaluations next show.

Please visit the web site for details and a list of awards that can be won!
