Horse & Country TV to Broadcast Extensive Coverage from World Equestrian Games

Horse & Country TV (On Sky, on smartphone, tablet and laptop) will be the place to watch all of the action from the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games taking place in Normandy later this month.

The specialist equestrian sports and lifestyle broadcaster will treat fans to build-up programming, daily highlights shows, extensive online reportage from the various WEG venues, and discipline-by-discipline highlights recapping all the action from the two-week long event, which represents the first opportunity for national teams to qualify for the next Olympiad.

Horse & Country TV’s coverage starts with a new six-part series, ‘FEI Road to Normandy’. This documentary series takes viewers behind the scenes to the homes of some of the finest equestrian athletes as they prepare for the equestrian world championships.

Horse & Country TV viewers will be given an inside look into their lives and the lives of those around them and explore the highs and lows of their individual journeys to the Games.

The series travels to Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the USA, featuring some of the world’s top riders across four equestrian disciplines. Eventing’s London 2012 Olympic Bronze Medallist Andrew Nicholson (NZL), the current Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing Contender Sam Griffiths (AUS), the ever talented Paul Tapner (AUS) and up and coming Izzy Taylor (GBR) – a prospective member of the British team. In Show Jumping the Longines Ranking’s World No. 2 Ben Maher (GBR) will take viewers through his paces as he focuses on mirroring Britain’s London 2012 Olympic success and the USA’s Pan American Gold Medallist Lauren Hough (USA) will also be featured. Carriage driver Georgina Hunt (GBR), Dressage star Laura Graves (USA) and Para-Dressage favourite Bert Sheffield (USA) will open up their worlds to viewers.

Throughout the Games, equestrian fans in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands can watch hour-long daily highlights that will keep viewers up to speed on the previous day’s events across all disciplines. The daily highlights shows will broadcast each day at 6pm.

From the 3 September H&C TV will show hour-long highlights of the Team Dressage, Dressage Grand Prix Special and Freestyle, Team Jumping and Individual Jumping, and Eventing, and half-hour shows on each of Reining, Para-Dressage, Vaulting, Driving and Endurance. These programmes will be available on all H&C TV’s outlets in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Head of Programming, Jonathan Rippon, said, “We are very excited to bring this extensive package of WEG programming to our viewers across all our markets. It truly does make H&C TV the premiere destination for equestrian sports fans during these important Games.”
