WELLINGTON, FL – July 30, 2014 — The Gay Polo League will make history when it makes its debut in the fourth annual Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower.

The Oct. 25-26 event is America’s most attended polo event expected to attract 15,000 polo fans to the Omni Scottsdale Polo Field at WestWorld of Scottsdale, Arizona.

The two-day event includes four matches with teams from all different spectrums.

It all gets started on Saturday, October 25th when the Gay Polo League takes on the Arizona Polo Club. A team of top players Gordon Ross, Dwight Tran, Jean-Marc Herrouin and Chip McKenney, founder and President of the Gay Polo League and team captain, will represent the GPL.

In the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader, a “Battle of the Sexes” match with top professional women polo players Sunny Hale, the founder of the WCT: Sarah Wiseman of Great Britain, Paola Martinez of Argentina, and Caroline Anier of France will comprise the Women’s World All-Star Team against the event’s defending champions, Clogau Wales Polo Team, which last year defeated the U.S. Military team.

The following day, an all-star match between Saturday’s top players led by Wellington’s Julio Arellano and top college polo player Patrick Uretz will take place along with the USPA Governor’s Cup, commemorating the U.S. Polo Association’s annual meetings.

This year’s new additions to the event include the Larsen Live Art Auction, The World Food Championships and The Canine Couture fashion show presented by Applewood Pet Resort featuring Westminster’s “Best in Show.”

The event also welcomes back the Arizona Porsche Concours d’Elegance, Ferrari and Lamborghini clubs and over 200 impressive versions of automotive horsepower, creating the best Arizona car party.

McKenney will also take part in a September 8th sneak Polo Preview Party of the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower from 6-8 p.m. at Stacy’s @ Melrose in Phoenix, one of the Valley’s most popular gay bars.

Presented by SWAY Events, Echo Magazine and ONE Community, attendees will get a preview of the polo event and hear the story behind the Gay Polo League from McKenney.
