Florida Governor Rick Scott Approves $2 Million for Ocala’s Florida Horse Park

Florida Horse Park and Foundation for the Florida Horse Park to Launch $2 Million Capital Campaign

(Ocala, Florida) — The Florida Horse Park and the Foundation for the Florida Horse Park held a joint press conference this morning, May 22, 2013, to announce the launch of a $2 million capital campaign to expand the Florida Horse Park and Agricultural Center (Florida Horse Park) at its Ocala location. This major funding campaign comes on the heels of Florida Governor Rick Scott’s signing of Monday’s 2013-2014 General Appropriations Act allocating a $2 million to the Park with a goal of matching this funding.

Ideally situated on 500 acres in the heart of Central Florida near I-75 in the heart of Marion County’s horse country, this year-round, world-class facility is fast becoming the centerpiece of Florida’s equestrian lifestyle community. The Park offers international caliber competition courses, an exciting schedule of world-class events that are drawing top competitors and spectators from every horse sport discipline, locally and globally, and educational opportunities for the horse enthusiast. Non-equestrian events include a Hero Rush, holiday parades, dog trials, and more! Park events consistently draw spectators from throughout the U.S., South America and Europe who are interested in enjoying all the Park has to offer.

The Park is fast becoming one of the top tourist and equestrian destinations in the country.  The Florida Horse Park represents Ocala/Marion Country and the state of Florida to equestrian and tourist markets around the world.  This venue, with the assistance of our community and the state of Florida, is creating a large-scale economic impact for the state.  The Park is a showcase for demonstrating that Marion County is indeed “The Horse Capital of the World”! The Foundation for the Florida Horse Park’s sole mission is to raise money and promote the Florida Horse Park. The Foundation and the Florida Horse Park are 501(c)3 not-for profit organizations.
