17 June 2010 – Alex McLin, FEI Secretary General, marks the 100-day countdown to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games with a specially extended video message today, expressing his confidence that the FEI’s flagship event will be an incredible celebration of equestrian sport when it opens in the 1,200 acre Kentucky Horse Park on 25 September.

“Spectators can expect to see the best equestrian sport can offer,” Alex McLin says. “The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games are 100 days away so we’re in the final stretches of preparation. It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since the award of the bid because everything that’s been achieved since then is absolutely incredible.

“All the infrastructure has been delivered on time, the teams are working well together on the ground and we have every reason to be confident that we’ll have a fantastic Games.”

The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games have attracted entries from 60 countries, with seven nations (AUS, CAN, FRA, GBR, GER, ITA, USA) fielding athletes in all eight disciplines – Jumping, Eventing, Dressage, Driving, Endurance, Reining, Vaulting and Para-Equestrian. And on the organisational side, the training sessions have already started for the volunteers, who play such a vital role in equestrian sport.

As the countdown to the Games passes the 100-day mark, the occasion will be celebrated in style in Lexington, Kentucky today. An all-day party will feature live music, a culinary flavour of the Games in the Taste of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, and the Destinations Showcase, which offers a preview of the four major event attractions open to Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games ticket holders.

But don’t worry if you can’t get to Kentucky for today’s party, there will be live-streaming of the festivities online at www.alltech.com from 17.00 to 19.00 CET. Visitors can also check out Alltech’s new Games microsite, which went live today and where guests can enjoy a virtual tour of the Alltech Experience Pavilion via an interactive map, as well as exploring the Games experience through a variety of dynamic media.
