The riders from the CSI5* tread upon the grass arena for the first time of the weekend to compete in the Alvalle class. 34 of them were on the start list of this speed class. Thanks to Will Wermer, the Belgian national anthem was played in the stadium.

To be among the winners, the riders had to clear the fences, but as fast as possible. If 17 pairs found the key to the course designed by Jean-François Morand, the fastest rider of this first confrontation was the Belgian Will Wermer, riding his 10 year old mare, Gentiane de la Pomme, who crosses the finish line in a time of 34’’41. Based near Lümmen, the rider, who competes in Dinard for the second time, said he was delighted with this result. « Gentiane is my top horse; he is a real fighter. When she goes into the ring, she is determined to win. She won most of the cups we have in the stables. »

The French rider Louis Bouhana, riding Shamrock du Niro, was in the lead most of the time, after a clear round in 34’’80.but finished 2nd. Based near Lorient, he paid tribute to his horse, who belongs to Mr. and Mrs. Dulion from La Baule. « Shamrock is fantastic; he signs a lot of clear rounds. I have been riding him for three years. He has a great mind; he is very generous. »

Nicolas Delmotte, very happy about his 3rd place Darmani Van T Heike in a time of 35’’37, paid tribute to the site of the competition, « the most beautiful in Europe. »
