Classic Company’s Grand Finale at the Georgia International Horse Park Welcomes Top Riders

The Classic Company is underway with another record breaking, sold out week at the Atlanta Fall Classic with more than a thousand horses and riders who rank among the best in the world competing and enjoying Classic Company’s renowned hospitality at the former show grounds home to the 1996 Olympics.

Inaugural Adequan Pre-Green Hunter Classic Is a Winner!

The Adequan Pre-Green Hunter Championship Finale kicked off the weekend yesterday when the top riders and horses competed for prize money banked throughout the show year.  “We anticipated that the class would offer $15,000 in prize money and as it turned out, we exceeded that expectation and awarded $16,800.00 in prize money,” said Classic Company President, Bob Bell.  “The class was very well received by the riders and trainers,” said Luitpold representative Wiss Costanza.  “I heard from many trainers how much they appreciated the class.  It was a real benefit for their riders and horses and was just what they needed for their clients.”  Winning the top honors was Chestnut Avenue, owned by Joanne Loheac and ridden by Elizabeth Boyd who also received a complimentary box of Luitpold’s product Adequan.  Finishing in second place was Kleiner Ralli, owned by Suzan Larson and ridden by Holly Shepherd.  Third place was awarded to First Dance, owned by Sarah Orberson and ridden by Elizabeth Boyd.

The $15,000 Welcome Open Jumper class Friday night under the lights in the Olympic stadium saw 49 entries tackle the challenging course designed by Allen Rheinheimer of Zionsville, Indiana.   The blue ribbon was won by Alex Granato of Elizabeth, Colorado and his own Gangsta as they jumped double clear rounds with a final jump off round time of 38.020 seconds.  Darragh Kenney of Wellington, Florida and Cavallo Farm’s Gucci finished with second place honors in a double clear round and time of 39.655 seconds in the jump off, while David Jennings of Full Circle Farm in Nashville, Tennessee, rode Uppsala, owned by Wood Run Farms to third place honors with double clear rounds and a final jump off time of 40.207 seconds.  Four place finisher was Jack Hardin Towell of Camden, South Carolina in the irons on his own Nolde, fifth place was awarded to Schuyler Riley of Wellington, Florida riding M. Michael Meller’s Waterloo, sixth place went to Wilhelm Genn from Lebanon, Ohio aboard his own Happy Z, seventh place honors was awarded to Timothy Maddrix of Birmingham, Alabama riding Uluxion, owned by Claudia Styslinger, the eighth ribbon was awarded to Darragh Kenney riding Delilah, owned by Derby Pie, LLC.  Ninth place was awarded to Sarah Scheiring of Birmingham, Alabama riding Wec Quidam-Quidam, owned by William Upton, tenth place was awarded to Katherine Gallagher’s Carney Haugh Max, ridden by Schuyler Riley, eleventh place was awarded to Patricia Stovel of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania riding her own Carigor Z and twelfth place was awarded to Andretti, owned by South Beach Stables and ridden by Schuyler Riley.

“This was my first time showing at the Atlanta Fall Classic and it’s great!” said renowned rider Darragh Kenney of Wellington, Florida.  “Everyone is so friendly here!  The office staff couldn’t be nicer, the barns are great, the classes offer something for everyone and my horses are doing really well here.   I will definitely be back,” he added.

The Classic Equitation Championship Finals take place tonight in the covered arena along with a special Classic Company exhibitor party offering all dinner during the class.  The $45,000 EMO Grand Prix is set to take center stage on Sunday afternoon at 2pm with more than thirty of the top riders in the world competing for prize money in the Olympic Stadium.  The recognition of the EMO Horse of the Year Awards will wrap up the week and close out the Classic Company’s 2012 season.
