Chicago, Illinois – July 16, 2010 – Chicago Equestrians for a Cause is pleased to announce the return of the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby (Chicago Hunter Derby) Presented By CN to Annali Farm in Antioch, IL, on August 29, 2010. The net proceeds generated by this prestigious competition will benefit Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago, IL, as well as the United States Hunter Jumper Association Foundation (USHJA Foundation).

Unique in nature, the Chicago Hunter Derby will feature a vintage hunt course set out on Annali Farm’s beautifully landscaped steeplechase course in-field. The course will be co-designed by Jimmy Torano and Bobby Murphy, and will welcome the nation’s top equestrians as they vie for top honors in this prestigious event.

Last year, the Chicago Hunter Derby enjoyed fabulous success – raising over $50,000 for the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL, and establishing itself as one of the foremost stand-alone derby events in the United States. This year, Chicago Equestrians for a Cause will not only be donating to Children’s Memorial Hospital, but also to the USHJA Foundation. The Foundation plays an integral role in the equestrian community as a non-profit fundraising vehicle – from supporting the betterment of the sport through programs such as the USHJA International Hunter Derbies to benefiting horses, individuals, and organizations in need of emergency relief via the Horseman’s Assistance Fund.

Children’s Memorial Hospital is one of Chicago’s most precious civic assets. As Illinois’ only freestanding hospital exclusively for children, Children’s Memorial currently cares for more than 126,000 young people annually. The hospital is consistently recognized as one of the top pediatric institutions in North America, and many of its physicians and researchers are among the world’s top experts in their areas of specialty.

Caroline and Rush Weeden have graciously donated their beautiful Annali Farm for this spectacular event. Upon the inception of the Chicago Hunter Derby, Rush transformed the farm into a location that is now perfectly suited to derby competition. His efforts throughout each year continue to make the Chicago Hunter Derby more and more enjoyable every time. Caroline serves on the Advisory Board for Chicago Equestrians for a Cause along with fellow Chicago trainer Lynn Jayne and Chairman Margaret Benjamin.

Chicago Hunter Derby Manager Bobby Murphy and Assistant Manager JP Bordeleau will travel to Antioch, IL, on behalf of Kentucky Horse Shows LLC, following their contribution to the production of Lexington, Kentucky’s 2010 $100,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals. Brian Lookabill will return as the Chicago Hunter Derby’s Production Coordinator, and Tom Blanketship will serve as the Stable Manager.

This year’s Chicago Hunter Derby will undoubtedly be the derby event of the season, and one you will not want to miss out on; for more information on the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Presented By CN, please visit www.chicagohunterderby.com or contact us at:
