Old Friends along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Louisville’s Seelbach Hilton Hotel to Host 5th Annual Benefit

LOUISVILLE, KY – FEBRUARY 14, 2013 – On February 23 the Seelbach Hilton Hotel will host the 5th annual “Old Friends along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail” dinner and Bourbon-tasting. The event is a benefit for Old Friends, the Thoroughbred retirement facility in Central Kentucky.

The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday February 23 at the hotel, located at 500 South Fourth Street in downtown Louisville. Tickets are $100 per person, and the hotel is also offering Kentucky Bourbon Trail guests a special reduced room rate of $119 per night.

The benefit will be highlighted by a four-course Bourbon-themed feast as well as live and silent auctions of exclusive equine artwork, autographed Bourbon items, racing memorabilia, fine jewelry, and more.

Old Friends, which has locations in Georgetown, KY and in Greenfield Center, NY, is devoted to providing a dignified retirement to horses whose racing and breeding careers have come to an end. The farm is home to such retired champions as Eclipse winner Sunshine Forever, Breeders’ Cup victor Gulch, Tinners Way (one of the last surviving sons of Secretariat), and Belmont Stakes winner Sarava.

“We can’t thank the Seelbach and the Kentucky Distillers Association enough for their support, ” said Old Friends President and Founder Michael Blowen. “This is one of the most exciting evenings on our fund-raising calendar and we hope everyone will come out and join us.”

“We are very proud to be hosting this event for the fifth consecutive year,” said Seelbach Events Coordinator Jennifer Biesel.  “It’s a wonderful evening that combines two of Kentucky’s signature industries – Bourbon and horses – all in the Seelbach’s historic setting.”

The night begins in The Seelbach’s beautiful Grand Ballroom. There, a wide variety of appetizers will be served and Kentucky’s iconic distilleries will offer samples of the Commonwealth’s finest brands, including Four Roses, Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, Woodford Reserve, and Town Branch.

Guests will then proceed to the hotel’s Five Diamond, Triple AAA-Awarded Oakroom for a two-course Bourbon-themed dinner designed by the Seelbach’s Chef de Cuisine Patrick Roney. This year’s featured menu:

Shitake Mushroom and Sweet Pea Puree
Lemon-Bourbon Beurre Blanc

Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin
White Bean and Brussels Sprout Cassoulet
Bourbon Braised Belly

Guest will then return to the ballroom for an assortment of wonderful desserts from pastry chef Bridget Knight and enjoy the action of the live auction conducted by auctioneers Tom Sayre and Curt Sharff.

Tickets to the “Old Friends along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail” are $100 and reservations can be made by calling the Seelbach’s Jennifer Biesel at (502) 585-9292.

In addition, the Seelbach is offering Kentucky Bourbon Trail guests a special “take the elevator home” room rate of $119 that can be reserved along with tickets. On Sunday, the hotel serves brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $29 per person.

TV Star Amber Marshall of “Heartland” to Attend Reception to Benefit Para-riding on Feb. 23

WELLINGTON, FL (February 8, 2013) – TV star Amber Marshall will be making her first South Florida appearance to help support and benefit the growing sport of para-riding.

The 24-year-old Marshall, an accomplished equestrian, stars in the long-running hit TV series “Heartland” and will join guests at The Player’s Club in Wellington on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.

Admission is free but donations will be accepted at the door. There will be a complimentary, light buffet along with a cash bar and door prizes.

All proceeds and donations go to Gold Coast Dressage Association to benefit para-riding, a program designed so a person with a disability can compete in an exciting and well-respected sport as an athlete and be judged on their abilities.

Now in its sixth season, Heartland has captured the hearts of millions as the characters have introduced viewers around the world to the passion and tradition horses have in people’s lives, whether it’s dressage, show jumping, rodeo or polo.

Introducing the New “Fete Cheval Etoile” & the Dazzling Cirque Vertigo Troupe

USET Foundation Honored at Alltech National Horse Show

Lexington, KY – November 9, 2012 – On November 3, 2012, the Alltech National Horse Show, 129th Edition, hosted a special benefit night for the United States Equestrian Team Foundation at the Alltech Arena in Lexington, KY where crowds gathered to watch the nation’s top horses and riders compete during the $250,000 Alltech Grand Prix CSI-W. Before the exciting action got underway, the show took time to recognize the important mission of the USET Foundation and its supporters to help the horses and riders of our nation compete at world-class competitions through the year, including World Cup Finals and the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

USET Foundation Trustee Robin Parsky, joined by USET Foundation Trustee and U.S. Show Jumping Chef d’Equipe George H. Morris, gave the evening’s speech. She spoke of the USET Foundation’s mission to help provide funding for the High Performance competition, training, coaching, travel and educational needs of America’s elite and developing athletes and horses in partnership with the United States Equestrian Federation. She also mentioned the exciting events the Team will be participating in over the coming years, including the 2014 Alltech World Equestrian Fames in Normandy, France and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Wellington Classic Holiday Challenge Dressage Show Supports Toys for Tots

Wellington, FL – October 24, 2012 – The November 1 opening date for entries for the Wellington Classic Holiday Challenge will soon be upon us, and you won’t want to miss out on this Great American/USDF qualifying competition while helping those less fortunate in the community.

The Wellington Classic Holiday Challenge, produced by Wellington Classic Dressage and scheduled for December 8-9 at the Palm Beach County Equestrian Center, features classes for everyone.

The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Level 2 Competition offers United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Introductory Level to Musical Freestyles, USEF First through Fourth Levels, and Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) Prix St. Georges (PSG) through Grand Prix as well as FEI Musical Freestyles and FEI Five- and Six-Year-Old Tests.

Participants and spectators are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or check donation for Toys for Tots to help spread holiday cheer this season.

American Gold Cup Festivities Benefit JustWorld International

North Salem, NY – September 15, 2012 – The American Gold Cup at Old Salem Farm in North Salem, New York, JustWorld International and Stadium Jumping, Inc., welcomed exhibitors, sponsors, and guests to a cocktail party Friday evening in the Main Barn of the well-appointed facility.

Competitors, sponsors, family and friends mingled and enjoyed live music, food and good cheer while horses to be offered in the OnlyJumpers.com New York Auction were demonstrated in the arena. Two miniature horses included in Saturday’s auction were also presented. The proceeds from the sale of the miniature horses will benefit JustWorld International.

A drawing for a Jeffrey Terreson original painting will go to support JustWorld International and their Adopt a Project campaign. By Friday night $2,400 was raised. The drawing runs through Sunday. JustWorld will hold their popular Horseless Horse Show benefit competition on Sunday before the $200,000 American Gold Cup CSI4*-W FEI World Cup event.

Reminder: Irish Oaks Farms Hosts Schooling Show to Benefit Seraphim12 Foundation This Saturday

Locust Valley, NY and Lewisville, NC – May 10, 2012 – This Saturday, the Seraphim12 Foundation will have the amazing opportunity to continue their efforts to promote awareness and change for America’s horses at Irish Oak Farm’s first annual benefit show. Irish Oaks Farm located in Lewisville, NC, will host their schooling show not only to benefit talented riders, but also to raise money and awareness to support the mission of the Seraphim12 Foundation and H.E.R.O Rescue Equine. 100 percent of the proceeds from the pledges/donations will be contributed to the organizations.

To take place this Saturday, May 12, 2012, the show will offer numerous hunter and jumper classes. Competitors are encouraged to ask their friends and families for pledges on their behalf. Seraphim12, H.E.R.O Rescue Equine and show management are hopeful that each competitor will submit at least five pledged sponsors when registering for classes. A percentage of the proceeds from the entries will benefit the Seraphim12 Foundation, and H.E.R.O Equine Rescue will provide the concessions.

First-Ever Southeast Medal Finals in Jacksonville Proud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project

Jacksonville, FL – May 7, 2012 – The Southeast Medal Finals is pleased to announce the event will be a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). The First Annual Southeast Medal Finals will take place on September 21-23, 2012 at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. Highlights include the Southeast Junior 3′ Medal Finals and the Southeast Adult 3′ Medal Finals, the Region Three ASPCA Maclay Regionals.

WWP was founded by several veterans and friends, moved by stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq, took action to help others in need. What started as a program to provide comfort items to wounded service members has grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and transition back to civilian life.

Tens of thousands of Wounded Warriors and caregivers receive support each year through WWP programs designed to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.

USET Foundation to Host Benefit Fiesta at Del Mar National Horse Show

Del Mar, CA – April 16, 2012 – The United States Equestrian Team Foundation is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a benefit in support of the United States Equestrian Olympic Team during the 2012 Del Mar National Horse Show. On Friday, May 4, guests are invited to join the Foundation for Margaritas, Fiesta Food, and Lively Music at Barn W of the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The event will get underway at 6:30p.m, following the Olympic Show Jumping Observation Event.

Robin Parsky, USET Foundation Trustee and Co-Chair of the Development Committee, will be chairing the event with her husband Gerry Parksy. “We often host USET Foundation Fundraisers in California, so we were looking for this opportunity to support the Team, and this is perfect timing,” she explained. “We will be inviting the exhibitors, horse owners, and USET Gold Medal Members from the West Coast. The Del Mar National is the largest and most prestigious show in California, so this is a great opportunity for us to get together and help raise money for the Team.”

“Salute to Driving” Auctions Off Lessons with Chester Weber to Benefit USET Foundation

Aiken, SC (March 9, 2012) – For the second year in a row Chester Weber, the eight-time USEF National Four-In-Hand Combined Driving National Champion, donated lessons to the “Salute to Driving” Benefit to support the USET Foundation. The fundraiser featured a dinner and live auction, as well as clinics, held over three days at Wendy O’Brien’s Trout Walk Farm in Aiken, South Carolina.

“This was a wonderful event put on in Aiken to raise money for the USET Foundation. Last year the debut event benefited the country’s High Performance Driving programs for the USET Foundation and raised over $30,000,” Weber said. “I was pleased to be part of the event last year and once again this year.”

Weber said he was also happy to donate lessons to the auction. “I will provide the lessons to the winner during the Live Oak International in March,” Weber said. “Jack Wetzel purchased the tickets for the lesson and gave them to Jacob Arnold.  I know Mr. Arnold will enjoy his driving experience at Live Oak.”
