Wellington, FL – January 30, 2014 – For one exciting evening their boots were left in the closet and their heels and ties appeared.  On January 24, 2014, The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation launched their $35 Million Campaign to Achieve Competitive Excellence at the “Soirée du Cheval” Gala.  The event was held at The Pavilion at the International Polo Club Palm Beach and was a benefit for the United States Equestrian Teams headed to the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France. Para-Dressage riders from across the country including riders from Northern California, Maine, and Texas flew to Wellington, Florida, in support of the U.S. Para-Dressage Team, the U.S. Show Jumping Team, the Eventing Team, the U.S. Dressage Team, the U.S. Reining Team, the Driving Team, the U.S. Endurance Team, and the U.S. Vaulting Team. After a wonderful keynote speech from USET Foundation President Tucker S. Johnson, a live auction commenced where over $700,000 was raised for the U.S. Teams. The event concluded with attendees hopping on the dance floor to celebrate the evening.  Para-Equestrian Dressage Technical Advisor/Chef d’Equipe Kai Handt was also in attendance at the event supporting the Para-Dressage riders and each of the United States Equestrian Teams. After the gala, Kai Handt had his first athlete meeting for the top-ranked Para-Dressage riders, their families, and support staff. Handt stressed how the future of the USEF U.S. Para-Equestrian Dressage Team is growing with young and emerging new talent. Excitement is building, while the first of two U.S. final 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games qualifier competitions start in March. The discipline anticipates several new horse rider combinations to be debuted, making the final team selection suspenseful.

Laureen Johnson, USEF High Performance Director of Para-Equestrian and Vaulting, commented, “I was delighted to see so many Para-Equestrian Dressage athletes, coaches, and enthusiasts attend the USET Foundation’s ‘Soirée du Cheval’ World Equestrian Games benefit in Wellington.  It was a most memorable evening for all.”

She continued, “Kai Handt, the new Para-Equestrian Dressage Technical Advisor/Chef d’Equipe, kicked off the next morning with a very successful breakfast forum for the top ranked Para-Equestrian athletes and coaches to discuss the team approach and strategize for 2014.  The feedback received was amazing and all athletes appeared to share Kai’s enthusiasm and grasped the team concept whole-heartedly. We are looking forward to working with Kai and a successful 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games experience.”

Jack Knowlton of Sackatoga Stable and Assemblyman Jim Tedisco Honored

Saratoga Springs, NY. August 2, 2013 – Equine Advocates, a non-profit equine protection organization and sanctuary in Chatham, New York, hosted their twelfth annual benefit dinner on Thursday, August 1st at the Saratoga Springs City Center.

Jack Knowlton of Sackatoga Stable and Assemblyman Jim Tedisco were honored for their work to ban horse slaughter and dedication to the protection of all equines. Saratoga’s Julie and Sonny Bonacio of Bonacio Construction presented Knowlton with the 2013 Safe Home Equine Protection Award. Assemblyman Tedisco was honored with the 2013 Ellen and Herbert Moelis Equine Savior Award, presented by News10’s popular animal-loving Chief Meteorologist and host of “The Pet Connection” Steve Caporizzo and Herbert and Ellen Moelis, founders of Thoroughbred Charities of America.

“Our industry seems to be missing two words. Those words are ‘owner responsibility,’” said Herbert Moelis while presenting the award to Assemblyman Tedisco. “Fortunately we have two words added to our industry also. Those are ‘Equine Advocates.’”

Co-chaired by Julie Bonacio and Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Bebe Neuwirth, the theme for the evening was “New York, New York!” The night celebrated 150 years of racing in Saratoga, ten years since Funny Cide became the first NY-bred racehorse to win the Kentucky Derby, and 17 years of Equine Advocates rescuing horses in need. Cathy Grier, a.k.a. NYC Subway Girl, performed, and guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a delicious gourmet dinner provided by Mazzone Hospitality. Silent and live auctions raised money to support Equine Advocates’ mission to rescue horses from neglect, abuse, and slaughter. Popular auction items included the Ultimate Kentucky Derby Experience for Four, the Harbour Town Golf Vacation for Six in Hilton Head, South Carolina, a Tiffany & Co. 18k white gold and diamond horseshoe pendant, an original painting of Funny Cide by Katie Upton, and more.

We continue to host the event here each year because the town centers around horses, reflecting our shared dedication to and reverence of these inspirational animals.”

Photo: Bruce Duchossois.

Lexington, KY – May 20, 2013 – The 2013 Alltech National Horse Show announced today that for the third year in a row, the Saturday evening performance will benefit the United States Equestrian Team Foundation. During the Saturday evening performance, featuring the show’s main event, the $250,000 Alltech Grand Prix, the horse show will share fifty percent of the night’s gate receipts with the USET Foundation.

The third edition of the Alltech National Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky, is scheduled for October 29 – November 3, 2013. The show will once again be held at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park. For the second year in a row, the Alltech National Horse Show was named the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame’s Horse Show of the Year and was again named as one of NARG’s (North American Riders Group) top rated North American events.

The United States Equestrian Team Foundation supports the competition, training, coaching, travel and educational needs of America’s elite and developing international high performance horses and athletes in partnership with the United States Equestrian Federation. Its main tasks are to support athletes, promote international excellence and build for the future.

Bonnie Jenkins, Executive Director of the USET Foundation, spoke of the successful and important partnership. “We are so grateful to the Alltech National Horse Show for highlighting and supporting the important role of the USET Foundation. With so many riders who have represented the United States in Nations Cup competition, as well as the young up and coming talent that will be competing on Grand Prix night, makes it a perfect fit reflecting our core mission of supporting athletes, promoting international excellence and building for the future. Continuing the tradition and partnership of the USET and the National Horse Show is something we feel privileged and grateful to be part of and thank them for helping us achieve our mission,” she said.

“We are excited to continue the worthwhile tradition of the National Horse Show supporting the activities of the United States Equestrian Team Foundation,” said Mason Phelps, Jr., President of the National Horse Show Association. “The Alltech National Horse Show, for the past two years, was honored to make a major commitment to the USET Foundation. Those contributions last year were especially important for the team’s effort in London. Now it’s time to look ahead and with so many events and championships on the horizon, we are proud to once again reaffirm that commitment to the USET Foundation.”

“Saturday night at the Alltech National Horse Show has become a very important part of the USET Foundation’s fund raising efforts. We are grateful and appreciative to the Alltech National Horse Show for once again including us on Saturday night,” said USET Foundation Development Committee Co-Chairman Bruce Duchossois. “Each year the show has gotten better and better and now in its third year, all of us at the USET Foundation are honored to be a part of this great tradition again. We thank Alltech and the National Horse Show for their generosity.”

The 2013 Alltech National Horse Show takes center stage on October 29 – November 3, 2013, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. In addition to the top rated hunters and the ASPCA Maclay National Championship, the show features world-class international, open, junior and amateur-owner jumpers competing for the biggest prize money on the United States indoor tour.

Founded in 1883 at the original Madison Square Garden, the National Horse Show is America’s oldest indoor horse show, firmly established as a major fixture on the national and international sports and social event calendars. The National Horse Show Association’s primary activity is the annual production of the National Horse Show and all ancillary events. Over the years, the National Horse Show has provided financial aid to many worthwhile charities.

Hillary Dobbs to Celebrate Launch of Dobbs Show Jumping Syndicate at “Champagning” Event to Benefit EQUUS Foundation

Hillary Dobbs, winner of 30+ Grand Prix and youngest rider to earn over $1 Million in career prize money ready to partner with show jumping lovers around the world, with Marengo.

WESTPORT, CT – March 19, 2013 – Hillary Dobbs, international show jumping champion, will host “Champagning”, a cocktail event to celebrate the launch of her Dobbs Show Jumping syndicate on March 28, 2013 in the Gallery at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida. The proceeds of the event will benefit the EQUUS Foundation.

Building upon her success representing the USA in International Nations Cups and Grand Prix, the Harvard University graduate is now poised to partner with strategic investors to build a world class team of show jumping horses for the next phase of her professional career.

Celebrity Stylist Engie Hassan, a Contributing Editor for High Fashion Magazine, will be covering the “Champagning” scene on March 28. Show Jumpers Georgina Bloomberg, Brianne Goutal and Cassie Herman are just a few of the notable members of the Host Committee for the Champagning cocktail event that will include the elite of the Wellington community. Guests will also include Dobbs’ fellow area alumni members of the Harvard Club of the Palm Beaches.

Through the generous support of sponsors that include Roaring Thunder Media, Parlanti USA, Reserveage Organics, First Republic Bank, Dore Designs and Status Luxury Group, guests of “Champagning” will enjoy a wonderful evening of champagne, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the beautiful Gallery venue. “Champagning” will showcase some of the top champagne brands in the world, thanks to event sponsor, Status Luxury Group (SLG), a global concierge and lifestyle management company dedicated to providing the highest quality of personalized service while transcending client expectations.

Along with her success in the Grand Prix ring as a rider, Dobbs is also considered to have a great set of eyes to find and develop horses to train to become world class Show Jumpers. Dobbs Show Jumping plans to offer partners the opportunity to work with Dobbs as she identifies, purchases and trains a select group of horses based upon her past successes with her champion show jumping horses “Quincy B,” “Corlett,” and “Marengo”. The show jumping horses acquired and trained by Dobbs Show Jumping will be ridden by Dobbs as she plans to compete at the highest level in Grand Prixs in the USA and around the world.

When asked about the rationale for launching Dobbs Show Jumping, Hillary Dobbs stated, “As I get ready to enter the next phase of my Show Jumping career, it is my goal to build a world class syndicate to allow all of my supporters through the years to join me as partners to build a talented stable of horses that will allow me to compete in the top Grand Prixs.” Dobbs also added, “As we now start to see higher and higher purses for US Show Jumping, there is a tremendous business opportunity through Dobbs Show Jumping for my partners and me to share in the success of finding the best horses to allow us to continue to compete at the highest level and build a valuable stable of world class show jumpers.”

“We congratulate Hillary on the launch of Dobbs Show Jumping and look forward to her continued success as one of the top Show Jumpers in the world. We greatly appreciate her deep rooted commitment to charitable efforts that not only advance the equestrian sport, but also ensure the well-being of horses and enable the therapeutic use of horses for those with special needs,” said Lynn Coakley, president of EQUUS Foundation.

Gianluca Caron, President and CEO of Parlanti USA, says, “We have been a longtime supporter of Hillary, and are proud to help her launch the next phase of her professional career. We look forward to a continued relationship with Hillary and Dobbs Show Jumping.”
