Equus Film Festival Welcomes “Protect the Harvest” as Its 2016 Title Sponsor

New York, NY (October 25, 2016): EQUUS Film Festival, the only horse focused movie, art and literary gathering in America, is proud to name “Protect the Harvest” as the title sponsor of its annual event to be held in New York City on November 17-20. Protect the Harvest is a non-profit organization that focuses on the betterment of life for all animals, including horses.

Protect the Harvest is a national pro-agriculture coalition founded by Lucas Oil Products, Inc. CEO, Forrest Lucas.

“One of the major concerns of Protect the Harvest is how to protect horses living in the wild,” said Lucas.  “While not everyone agrees on how to do that, many horse lovers agree that we don’t want our wild horses dying from starvation or dehydration and that something must be done.”

“We believe that smaller herds will help preserve their freedoms and their health. Opening up a dialogue on how to best solve these issues and protect Range Lands is something that needs to be discussed by ranchers and horse lovers.”

“The Wild Horse issue is only one of the many areas that EQUUS Film Festival focuses on and now with the help of Protect the Harvest, we will be able to continue to give the many filmmakers a place to showcase their hard work that has resulted in wonderful films that need to be seen and shared,” commented EFF Founder, Lisa Diersen.

The EQUUS Film Festival also takes a selection of its films to various “Tour Stops” throughout the year. “Our goal is to showcase our filmmakers, and this title sponsorship is going to allow a selection of these horse films to be shown at more locations,” added co-organizer Diana De Rosa.

This year’s EQUUS Film Festival begins on Thursday night, November 17 with a Welcome Reception where the horse loving public is invited to meet the many filmmakers, authors and artists (you must reserve your free ticket by going to Eventbrite via the website). November 18-19 will feature films from 12:00 noon to 11:00 p.m. at the Village East Cinema (and will include the Li’l Herc two-hour free children’s screening).

On Sunday, November 20, the WINNIE Awards will be given out at The Wild Horses of Sable Island Gallery. For more information, a time schedule about this year’s EQUUS Film Festival, and a link to purchasing and/or reserving tickets, visit the website at

ABOUT THE EQUUS FILM FESTIVAL: The annual EQUUS Film Festival, founded in 2013 by Lisa Diersen, is the first event of its kind to offer a home to the storytellers of the horse world, with films, documentaries, videos, commercials and shorts from around the world and also cultural elements of fine equestrian art and literature.

This year’s EQUUS Film Festival will take place November 17-20 in New York City. For more about the EQUUS Film Festival films, contact Lisa Diersen at or 630-272-3077, and for sponsorships and press, contact Diana De Rosa,, 516-848-4867.

Exclusive showing of Sundance and Toronto Film Festival winning film Dark Horse

Lexington, KY. October 7, 2016 — Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center (MMSC), a premier non-profit re-schooling facility for adoptable Thoroughbreds located at the Kentucky Horse Park, hosted a movie night featuring the award-winning documentary, Dark Horse.

The Dark Horse Movie Night took place on Thursday, October 6th at the historic Kentucky Theater at 214 East Main Street. The money raised from ticket proceeds will benefit MMSC’s initiatives to find a second career and future homes for off the track Thoroughbreds. Each horse is taught new skill sets through their re-schooling program while embracing the breed’s physical and emotional strengths and limitations.

Dark Horse is a documentary based on a true story about Dream Alliance, a horse born and bred by a syndicate in a depressed South Wales mining village. This horse performed against all odds and conquered the world of racing.

“We wanted to switch into fall gear by inviting the Lexington community to a fun, family friendly evening that we hope will bring both Lexington community members as well as the equestrian world together,” said Director of Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center, Susanna Thomas. “With the constant support of our community members, we are capable of sharing our story and mission, which is able to leave an indelible mark in our hearts and transform the lives of Thoroughbreds.”

The event had open seating; VIP tickets provided patrons with access to the complimentary wine bar.

About Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center: The Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center (MMSC) is a premier non-profit re-schooling facility and showcase for adoptable Thoroughbreds. Founded in 2004, the MMSC uses its illustrious location in the Kentucky Horse Park to herald the athleticism of this amazing breed by teaching new skill sets to horses of all levels of ability so they can go on to be ambassadors for racehorses in new careers.

Horse Radio Network Hits 5,000 Episodes

Horse Radio Network Hits Record Episode Milestone

Ocala, FL (October 1, 2016) – The Horse Radio Network announced today that they’ve reached a record 5,000 published podcast episodes since the company’s launch in August of 2008 when the network began with just one show, The Stable Scoop Radio Show.

Not long after Stable Scoop was born, however, a second show was produced. This one, titled “The 2010 Radio Show” covered all things related to the World Equestrian Games held in Lexington, Kentucky that year. The early success of these two shows became the leverage (and inspiration) for eight more shows produced by HRN, including the wildly popular daily show, Horses in the Morning.

Starting with just two hosts and one adventurous sponsor, the Horse Radio Network now features 27 hosts, over six thousand guest segments, dozens of media partners, and some of the biggest sponsors in the equestrian industry.  HRN shows cover a variety of interests like carriage driving, eventing, dressage, horsemanship, and life!

HRN founder and CEO, Glenn the Geek, says, “I am so proud of my team, who has worked endless hours to make this happen. We are highly respected in the podcasting world because of our dedication to making this technology the leading new media platform in the world.”

“Most of all,” Glenn says, “having a partner you can trust and rely on is invaluable for the success of any small business. In this case, it is my wife, Jennifer, who has devoted her time, energy, and incredible knowledge to this endeavor. For that, I am truly grateful.”

“As Glenn’s first co-host at HRN, I had no idea what kind of adventure we were embarking on,” says Helena Bee, host of the Stable Scoop show. “Neither of us knew where this journey would take us, but we had big visions for where it could go. Our listeners have been a huge part of our success.  We cannot thank them enough for joining us on this journey, and for being such great traveling companions!”

Listening to shows on the Horse Radio Network is very easy. Listeners can stream or download episodes at their convenience on iTunes, any podcast player, the HRN website, or by downloading the FREE Horse Radio app for iOS or Android.

New Movie Unbridled Brings Omega Alpha to the Big Screen

Lindsey Partridge and her horse Soar (Photo courtesy of Wendy Webb Photography and Lindsey Partridge)

Cary, NC (July 29, 2016) — When Omega Alpha Ambassador Lindsey Partridge was offered a role in the upcoming movie Unbridled, inspired by real-life events at a healing ranch for challenged teenage girls in North Carolina, Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals was eager to show its support. The Canada-based producer of equine health products and supplements regularly assists the equestrian community through its sponsorship of elite horse shows and top equestrian professionals like Partridge, and was excited for this unique opportunity to appear in a movie while also raising awareness for a deserving cause. Omega Alpha donated $2,500 to the funding of the film, which is centered on the miraculous healing power of equine-assisted therapy. The movie is eagerly anticipated among a variety of audiences in the faith, equine, and anti-human trafficking communities as it approaches its release this fall.

Unbridled, which is expected to release early in 2017, is a true-to-life story that exposes the atrocities of abuse, neglect, and trauma and the healing and redemption experienced by girls and horses who have suffered the same types of abuse. The story centers around the life of 17-year-old Sarah Miller (Tea McKay), a fictional character based on the more than 100 young women who have experienced the Corral Riding Academy, an equine therapy program in Cary, North Carolina where the lives of both rescued horses and teenage girls are transformed through trauma-focused equine assisted psychotherapy.

Partridge, who specializes in retraining off-the-track Thoroughbreds and won the America’s Most Wanted Thoroughbred competition in Lexington, Kentucky in October 2015, was cast as herself in Unbridled. Two of her horses, Dreamer and Soar, also appear in the film, with Dreamer in the starring role. “My role in the film is to work with the girls as well as show the girls my international champion, Soar, who is 2015’s America’s Most Wanted Thoroughbred,” Partridge explained. “We do a display for the girls of some liberty and bridleless riding, and in other scenes I help with coaching the girls.”

With the help of Omega Alpha’s wide range of award-winning products, both equine stars maintained their excellent health and picture-perfect appearance throughout the making of the film. Their daily use of Omega Alpha supplements continues to keep Dreamer and Soar at the highest possible standard in equine health and performance. “The star of the film, Dreamer, uses Respi-Free daily and we have noticed that it really has helped his breathing,” said Partridge. “Dreamer seemed to have trouble opening his airways and would breathe really heavily during light canter work. Now he is competing at full strength, and if he starts to breathe heavy we use Omega Alpha Lung Flush and Airwaves too.”

Partridge feeds her horses a natural diet with high-quality nutrients, and Omega Alpha’s scientifically formulated supplements play a crucial role in helping to maintain the horses’ readiness for competition. “I want to make sure my horses are comfortable, and I don’t want to cause any negative side effects,” said Partridge. “If I have a horse that is sore, I love using Omega Alpha Antiflam because it doesn’t hurt the horse’s gut like other painkillers or anti-inflammatories can when given long-term.”

Because Partridge uses so many Omega Alpha products with her horses, it seemed natural for some of the products to appear in Unbridled. “I did a scene that involved Omega Alpha,” said Partridge. “It is the first scene where the audience meets me. I arrive and greet Cassie (Rachel Hendrix), and during our dialogue I request an Omega Alpha product from Cassie. Cassie shows me that they have Omega Alpha products to share, and we go on to meet the girls.”

Gerald McGlothlin, the executive producer of the film, was excited about the scene. “I just personally watched the ‘rough cut’ of the Unbridled movie, and the Omega Alpha segment was excellent,” he said.

Partridge hopes that audiences of the film will be inspired to learn more about harmony horsemanship as well as the use of equine therapy for healing and emotional growth. “The movie is an incredible story, and I am very grateful to Omega Alpha for supporting this film,” she said.

Omega Alpha is proud to have played a role in the funding of Unbridled and looks forward to being a part of Partridge’s continued success. With more than twenty years of experience in developing natural equine supplements through research-based science, the company offers a wide range of award-winning products including formulas to support respiration, digestion, joint health, hormonal balance, immune health, detoxification, muscle rehabilitation, endurance, and performance.
