As USEF NSAID Rules Change, It’s Time to Go Organic

NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) may help mask lameness while reducing pain, swelling, and inflammation, but they can also be very harmful to the equine athlete.  NSAIDs can contribute to GI ulcers and colic, renal and liver toxicity, and decrease a horse’s health and performance.

The USEF now requires a “NSAID Disclosure form” to be filed with the Steward/Technical Delegate if more than one NSAID is used during a competition or in the 5 days preceding a USEF competition.  Starting December 1, 2011, the presence of only one NSAID will be allowed!  The seven NSAIDs currently allowed with quantitative restrictions are Bute, Banamine, Naproxen, Ketofen, Arquel, Equioxx, and topical Surpass.

KAM Animal Services offers FRE Choice Liquid as a safe effective NSAID alternative.  FRE Liquid has been used in show and race horses for years with great success and is veterinarian tested and endorsed.  It has none of the negative side effects or risks that the above NSAIDs are known for.

Horse Books Needed for Sioux Indians

“The Red Nation shall rise again and it shall be a blessing for a world filled with broken promises, selfishness, and separations. A world longing for light again. I see a time of Seven Generations, when all the colors of mankind will gather under the Sacred Tree of Life and the whole earth will become one again. In that day, there will be those among the Lakota who will carry knowledge and understanding of unity among all living things, and the young white ones will come to those of my people and ask for this wisdom. I salute the light within your eyes where the whole universe dwells. For when you are at that center within you and I am at that place within me, we shall be one”.

–Crazy Horse, in what were his last words to Sitting Bull.

The Lakota Dream Horse Project: Here at ThinLine we find ourselves suddenly working with a tribe who has far too long kept themselves quietly on their reservation. Perhaps it is because our products speak to communication and respect for our horses, or perhaps it is part of a bigger plan foreseen by Crazy Horse.

We are now 7 generations from this great chief.  The Lakota wish to merge our technology with their legacy of equine training and tack, and to explore the possibility of sharing knowledge and respect for the horse.

KAM Cartoon Calendar

KAM Animals Services is creating a unique 2011 calendar for this upcoming holiday season.  Using the skill of its illustrator, KAM is creating a fun calendar for all kinds of equine businesses and services.  Each page will include a cute cartoon of the month based around a particular type of equine business or service.

Since there are only 12 months in a year, this means that will be the limit to how many companies can have a graphic designed especially for them.  Your creative cartoon would tie your business into one or more months.

Calendars can also be personalized with a business name visible on every month and you can choose a month to not only add a coupon but notification tips can be placed throughout the calendar.

“What makes this calendar different than others are the wonderful creative horse illustrations that will make anyone smile.  The focus could be for a tack shop, saddlemaker, feed company, clothier, boot company or anyone else in the horse business,” said Gabriele Sutton, owner of KAM Animal Services.

Gladstone, NJ (August 19, 2010) – Dressage rider Lauren Sammis, who earned a Gold Medal at the Pan American Games, awarded fellow dressage rider Crystal Gaskell with a brand new Charles Owen helmet during the 2010 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Dressage Festival of Champions. Gaskell, of Cazenovia, New York, won the helmet through a Charles Owen Helmet raffle, in support of the Riders4Helmets campaign started by SUCCEED, with all the proceeds from the raffle going to the USET Foundation.

“I always ride in a helmet and I was looking for a new helmet so this works out great,” said Gaskell, adding that she was extremely excited about winning the raffle. “I have a 23-year-old Dutch horse that I ride named Figaro. He did his first grand prix with my daughter when he was 21.”

Sammis, who competed at the Dressage Festival of Champions on Sagacious HF, an 11-year-old KWPN gelding owned by Al Guden of Hyperion Farm, was pleased to award Gaskell with her new helmet. TailRx Featured on NBC’s Today Show during Kathie Lee and Hoda’s “Favorite Things” Segment

Mary Brunetti, founder of TailRx, said the product works equally well on horses and humans. (Photo courtesy of Mary Brunetti)

New York, NY (August 13, 2010) – Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb added a little horse sense to NBC’s Today show recently, when Kotb announced that her newest favorite thing is the horse product TailRx. Developed by hairstylist and dressage rider Mary Brunetti, TailRx is a mane and tail restoration system for horses that can also be used on humans.

During the show’s “Favorite Things” segment, Kotb explained that she has always had hair issues but thanks to TailRx she now has a smooth and flowing mane. Kotb pulled out a bottle of the magic mane serum and demonstrated to the audience that it only takes a drop to produce a head of hair as sleek as a filly’s.

“I did Hoda’s hair out in the Hamptons over the weekend and used TailRx on it and Hoda loved it. When her show aired on Monday she was very excited about it and gave TailRx a big shout out,” Brunetti said. “Hoda knew that I developed the product for horses but that it works great on humans also, and she mentioned that on the air.”

Brunetti has since heard from staff at NBC who said Kotb is still raving about TailRx. “Hoda has talked about your product non-stop! It must be a miracle potion. Congrats, her hair looks amazing,” one staff member wrote to Brunetti.
