GERMANY DOMINATES THE MEDAL PODIUM AT KRONBERG

26 July 2010 – German riders proved unstoppable at the FEI European Dressage Championships for Juniors and Young Riders on their home soil in Kronberg when scooping gold in all six categories of competition.  And to further emphasise their absolute domination, they also claimed gold and silver in both the Young Riders Individual and Freestyle Championship.  The Netherlands took Junior and Young Rider team silver while Danish riders also featured prominently on the medal podium.

Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff and the Schafhof in Kronberg, Germany, played host to these Dressage Championships for the third time.  The wonderful venue where Ann-Kathrin’s mother, Liselott Linsenhoff-Schindling, trained her horse Piaff which won the Olympic gold medal in München 1972, previously staged these Championships in 1980 and 1986. Ann-Kathrin herself competed as a Young Rider in 1981 in Rotterdam when she won team gold and individual bronze, and she proudly and generously opened the gates of the Schafhof to a huge number of talented riders and their horses for this 2010 event from 20 to 25 July.

Wellington, FL (July 19, 2010) – Dressage rider Caroline Roffman’s brilliant Young Rider career may be behind her, but that isn’t keeping the talented 21-year-old from shining as a young professional. Roffman and her Hanoverian gelding Bon Chance have qualified for the Markel/USEF National Young Horse Championship in Lamplight, Illinois, July 22-25.

“I will be competing Bon Chance, or Moto as I call him, in the five-year-old Preliminary and Championship Class, American Bred Horse at the Young Horse Championships,” Roffman said. “This is really exciting for me because I have had Moto since he was three and I am proud to say that I have done all of the riding and training myself, with lessons from my trainer Lars Petersen.”

This will be the duo’s second trip to the Young Horse Championships, as Bon Chance was the Reserve Four-Year-Old Champion at the prestigious show last year. Bon Chance was bred by American breeders Marefield Meadows out of Virginia. “I feel really honored to once again be competing at the Young Horse Championships. I believe this program allows the United States to develop future team horses and we are incredibly lucky to have people like Scott Hassler to guide us down the right path,” Roffman said.

EXELL RETAINS AACHEN TITLE

17 July 2010 – Boyd Exell (AUS) today notched up his third individual victory at Aachen, the most prestigious international Four-in-Hand Driving competition, to add to his wins in 2003 and 2009. The Australian had a head start in the dressage and held onto his lead throughout.

Four times World Champion IJsbrand Chardon (NED) finished second, ahead of Christoph Sandmann (GER), and it was the Netherlands that won the Nations Cup ahead of hosts Germany, with Switzerland in third.

Changed format

The CAIO and World Cup Qualifying competition in Aachen was run in a different format. The Four-in-Hand drivers drove the regular dressage test on Thursday, followed by the obstacle driving competition on Friday. Motivation from Moshi no. 27, by Jane Savoie

What is excellence to you? Is it finding a specific purpose for your life? Or perhaps it’s getting over 70 percent on a dressage test? Or maybe it’s as simple as getting the right canter lead every time you ask.

We all have different ideas of excellence. And there’s nothing quite like the amazing feeling of knowing that you did your very best, and it all came together perfectly in that moment.

Excellence doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a decision. It’s hours and hours of practice, coupled with a burning desire to be the best you can be. It’s doing everything you can to learn, improve, and achieve; while not accepting less than your very best. If excellence is your goal, you must give it your all and not settle for anything less.
