Gulfport, MS – December 16, 2010 – The Gulf Coast Classic Company is pleased to welcome Adequan (polysulfated glycosminoglycan) as the newest sponsor for the 2011 Winter Classics. “We are excited to continue our support of the Classic Company and the riders and horses that compete at these competitions,” stated Allyn Mann, Sr. Manager of Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc. “Our philosophy is simple: support those who are supporting you.”

“Given the sport our athletes compete in, pairing with Adequan seems the perfect fit for both parties,” Bob Bell, Co-Chair of the Gulf Coast Winter Classics, began. “Arthritis is an inflammation in the joints which at some time will plague many of our beloved equine partners and even our canine friends can suffer the ill effects of Arthritis. Adequan has made such strides in providing relief from the pain associated with this ailment and provided a longer career as well as improved life span.”

Alissa Kinsey Wins Barry Lane Memorial; David Jennings Triumphs in EMO $25k Grand Prix

Conyers, GA — November 14, 2010 — Classic Company’s Season Finale event, the Atlanta Fall Classics, is a virtual cornucopia of equestrian competition with everything from Zone Championships to a $25,000 Adult-Child Jumper Classic to a show jumping Grand Prix just in the first week. “We always like to end our year big!” Classic Company President Bob Bell quipped.

Friday’s kick off of head to head competition began with the USHJA National Hunter Classic. This event is considered a stepping stone to the regular Hunter Derbies for many and designer Joe Carnicone gave riders a taste of that experience with a layout offering four higher option fences to garnish bonus points. Top scores were invited to return for a handy round in which an overall point total would determine the victor. Round one found Camden, SC favorite Elizabeth Boyd riding the Lee Cesery owned Marquis to an early lead, but the young talents of Marlena Parker and Edie Ringger were right on her coat tails. And when the scores were tallied it was Edie Ringger of Midland, GA with her mount Norway de la Fosse taking the number one position.

Tri State Equitation Finals Highlight 20th Anniversary of Tryon Fall Classics

Tryon, NC — September 25, 2010 — A family type atmosphere enveloped the ring, complete with loud cheering and picnic cloths spread around as the 2010 Tri State Equitation Finals crowned champions Saturday afternoon in the spotlighted event celebrating 20 years of the Tryon Fall Classic.

Currently held at the Foothills Equestrian Center, the Fall Classic, one of the earliest USEF A rated horse shows in the tri state area, was created two decades ago by Bob Bell and Carol Kent. Both Bell and Kent recall a time when age group equitation classes were a dominate section of A rated events. “Reviving the Age Group Equitation is something I believe will help make our young riders stronger competitors when they do head to the big equitation classics and finals at shows like Washington International, Harrisburg, and even the ASPCA Maclay Championships. Given the current economic crunch many riders are feeling there are probably several who won’t be traveling to the big Indoor circuits as they did in the past, but we wanted to recognize their excellence at our Fall show in Tryon,” Bell said. He explained the focus of Classic Company’s Tri State Equitation was on top riders from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, “to honor their achievements this season and to aid those riders who will be heading to Indoors by providing a tune up opportunity.”

Charleston Summer Classic One

July 18, 2010 – We just finished a great week in Charleston.  The weather was warm but there was always a great breeze, the benefit of being only a few miles from the ocean.

To start I want to thank Red’s Ice House for a great Welcome party at Bohicket Marina, along with a big thank you to Poplar Grove and Seabrook Island Equestrian Centers for the great parties for the Hunter Classic and the Jumper Classic on Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday, 4300 people lost power on Johns Island, Seabrook Island and Kiawah Island.  The power outage was caused by a truck hitting a power transformer.  The show was without power for five hours.  I want to thank all the exhibitors for their understanding and for keeping the show going so well without much sound.

Charleston Summer Classic

July 1, 2010 – The Charleston Summer Classic starts in two weeks from today and we still have about 50 stalls for week one and about 100 for week two still available.  The temporary stalls will go up right after the July 4th weekend so if you need stalls, call our office so we put up the right number.  We will only have 450 stalls this year.

Three other things.

1. If you are interested in renting a golf cart, please call the office.  We do not have an onsite vendor and are trying to find carts in town.  843 768 5503 – speak to Tissy.

2. You are welcome to arrive on Saturday the 10th of July if you like.  We will have a VERY limited staff but if you call about shavings early, you are welcome to come. Please do not arrive without calling us.  843 768 5503.

3. There was a misprint in the prize list for the $7,500 Jumper Classic.  The specs implied that the class was only for Jr AO Jumpers.  That is not true.  It is an open jumper classic, open to all horses and riders.

Atlanta Summer Classic One

We had a great week in Conyers for the Atlanta Summer Classic I.  We had lots of exciting classes so I have lots to share.

To start, this week was a WCHR event and we hosted the USHJA Hunter Classic and USHJA International Hunter Derby.

The winner of the Hunter Classic was Snowday owned by Triple Creek Farm and ridden by Lindsey Chestnut.  The class was showcased and started at 10 am with lots of spectators watching.  The Classic Company plans many USHJA Hunter Classics in the future.

The winner of the International Hunter Derby was Brunello, owned by Mrs. Elizabeth Peterson and shown by Elizabeth Boyd.   The class was held in the 400 x 450 Grand Prix ring under lights and was well attended with “tailgaters”.  It was an exciting class and Allen Rheinheimer and Joe Carnicom made a challenging course.  There were also many comments among the spectators that they missed the “opening of the gate” and they hoped that the committee will see fit to allow it next year…. it was not a gimmick jump.
