Wellington, FL – April 1, 2021 – The Adequan® Global Dressage Festival continued on Thursday, April 1, marking a top placing for the USA’s Adrienne Lyle and Salvino in the FEI Grand Prix for Special CDI4*, presented by Adequan®.

It was Betsy Juliano LLC’s 2007 Hanoverian stallion by Sandro Hit that concluded the day with the highest honors in the International Stadium at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center’s (PBIEC) Equestrian Village, highlighting the stallion’s return to competition for the first time in over a year.

“It felt amazing,” began Lyle. “He just never ceases to amaze me with his heart; that horse has a bigger heart than any animal on this planet, I think. He’s just proven time and time again that he’ll be there when I need him to be there if we listen to him and don’t overdo it. We waited to come out last year until later in the season and it worked, so we decided to wait again this year, and so far, it’s off to a good start. Hopefully, we can put in a few more performances like that leading up to the summer.”

The pair put in an outstanding performance, ending the ride with a personal best score of 80.065%. “He felt really fit and fresh,” explained Lyle, “and was even squealing a little going around the outside of the ring like he was really fired up. I like him to be in that spot where he’s really excited to go in there.”

She continued, “I actually started crying after the ride, which I hardly ever do. He didn’t put a foot out of place, and he’s so amazing. I could tell he was excited and fresh. We haven’t been in there in over a year, and when he went down centerline, he focused and knew it was time to put everything aside. He really knows how to be there for you, and not many horses are like that. You don’t get to sit on many of those in a lifetime.”

The FEI Grand Prix for Special CDI3*, presented by Ashley Holzer of Southgate Farm with longtime friends and co-sponsors P. J. Rizvi and Dr. Diane Fellows, was topped by Susan Dutta (USA) on Figeac DC, Tim and Susan Dutta’s 2009 Oldenburg gelding by Fackeltanz, with a 70.630%. Second place was awarded to Jessica Howington (USA) on her own 2007 KWPN mare, Cavalia, by Sir Donnerhall I, riding to a score of 68.522%. Third place was captured by another USA rider, Alice Tarjan, aboard her own 2010 Hanoverian mare by Christ, receiving a 67.457%.

Final Week of AGDF 2021 Commences with Win for Dongseon Kim and Lord Nunes

Wellington, FL – March 31, 2021 – The 2021 Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) resumed competition with AGDF 12 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) in Wellington, FL on Wednesday, March 31. Victory in the FEI Prix St. Georges CDI3* went to Dongseon Kim (KOR) and his own Lord Nunes.

Kim and the 2012 Rheinlander stallion by Lord Loxley I rode to a score of 67.441% to clinch the blue ribbon in the first class of the final week. “Today I really focused on preparing all of my corners,” explained Kim, “and riding a slower tempo because it’s been a little quick, so I wanted to develop more cadence. All of those things went very well, but I also made some silly mistakes on my part. When those small details come together, I think it will be a really solid test.”

Kim has been very successful at the Small Tour levels with the stallion, which he has brought up the levels after partnering with it as a five-year-old. He said, “I brought four horses here, two from Korea and two from Europe, and I was especially happy because I’ve had Lord Nunes since he was five and I developed him a lot by myself. It’s really meaningful that a horse can come from Korea all the way here to the USA and still perform well and be as successful as he’s been.”

In the FEI Prix St. Georges CDI1*, Pablo Gomez Molina (ESP) rode Servus Ymas, Cristina Danguillecourt and Yeguada De Ymas S.L.’s 2013 Hanoverian gelding by San Amour, to a 71.529% to capture the victory. Second place went to Bianca Tota (USA) on Imperial, her own 2013 KWPN mare by Charmeur, with 71.030%. Third was rounded out by Sarah Lockman (USA) on Balia, Summit Farm’s 2012 Westphalian mare by Belissimo, riding to an overall score of 70.765%.

Moreira Laliberté and I Do Kiss Earn FEI Grand Prix Victory at AGDF 11

Naima Moreira Laliberté and I Do Kiss ©SusanStickle.

Wellington, FL – March 29, 2021 – Competition continued at the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) last week, welcoming horses and riders to Equestrian Village at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center from Friday, March 26, through Sunday, March 28, for national-level competition. On Saturday, Canada’s Naima Moreira Laliberté topped the FEI Grand Prix with KML Inc’s I Do Kiss.

Moreira Laliberté and the 2006 Swedish Warmblood stallion by French Kiss rose to the occasion after producing a score of 68.260%. “For me,” she explained, “it was a good practice run to get in there and perfect a few things that I wanted to work on, such as putting the piaffes on the spot while staying active. I was aiming for a clean test which didn’t happen, but I do feel like sometimes the mistakes are necessary to improve and show me where I need to fine tune. I was happy that what we’ve been working on at home in the last week or two showed up in the competition arena this weekend, and that’s what makes me happy at the end of the day – having a plan and having it work out.”

The 24-year-old will now compete one last time at AGDF 12 before she moves on to planning for the remainder of the 2021 competition year, with sights set on the Tokyo Olympics. “The season has passed so fast,” she noted. “I showed almost every week, with different horses at different levels. I have some up-and-coming young ones as well. It was a good, productive season that helped me train some specific things and improve the overall performances in the ring.”

On Sunday, the Lövsta Future Challenge/Young Horse Grand Prix Series sported a win for Karen Pavicic (CRO) and Totem, a 2012 Hanoverian gelding by Totilas she owns with Thomas Baur. They scored 71.911%. Second place went to Charlotte Jorst (USA) and her 2011 KWPN stallion by Apache, Kastel’s Grand Galaxy Win, with a 70.661%.

Equine Herpesvirus Restrictions Soon to Be Modified at ESP Events

Wellington, FL – March 26, 2021 – Equestrian Sport Productions (ESP) management is pleased to announce that the protocols currently in place regarding Equine Herpesvirus (EHV) will be modified as of Monday, March 29, 2021. This measure will include activities at both the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) and Equestrian Village, the homes of the Winter Equestrian Festival and Adequan® Global Dressage Festival, respectively.

This decision was made after conferring with state and local veterinarians, as well as the US Equestrian Veterinary Department, who all agreed that the restrictions were no longer needed due to the containment of the recent outbreak in Ocala. As of this upcoming Monday, horses that are located outside of Wellington, FL or any that have traveled recently will be allowed on-site for competition.

ESP urges all horse owners to continue biosecurity protocols and note that modified restrictions are still in place at PBIEC in order to maintain the health of all of the horses on the property. They are as follows:

  1. Anyone shipping horses into the PBIEC and Equestrian Village facilities will be required to sign a declaration stating that the horses entering the facility have not competed at other Florida venues outside of Wellington or been in close contact with horses that competed in other Florida venues outside of Wellington within ten (10) days prior to their arrival.
  2. Starting Monday, March 8, any horses shipping onto the property (both WEF and AGDF grounds) will require a health certificate or statement on official licensed veterinarian letterhead and must be dated by Veterinarian within seven (7) days of arriving.
  3. ESP will require all barns on PBIEC and Equestrian Village show grounds to maintain a temperature log with twice-daily temperatures recorded and recommend posting on each horse’s stall door. Random checks by approved veterinary staff may be implemented.
  4. ESP and USEF strongly recommend that equestrians do not ship horses throughout the state for the foreseeable future. In addition, we encourage you to cease any European imports you may have scheduled to Florida. We urge those with recently imported horses to isolate and monitor them for 10 days. Horses imported from Europe in the last 14 days and going forward will not be allowed into PBIEC or Equestrian Village show grounds.
  5. Any horse on the show grounds with a fever of unknown origin or of suspicious origin must be reported to ESP Management. It is always better to err on the side of safety. Isolation stalls will either be available on the grounds or at a local veterinary practice if the need arises.

It is our shared responsibility to keep our horses safe. Similar to the suggested protocols in place for humans due to COVID-19, we urge all equestrians to please remember and abide by the following biosecurity measures:

  • Take all horses’ temperatures daily and report any horse with a temperature above 101.5 degrees Fahrenheit or any signs of respiratory or neurological disease to your veterinarian and/or show management.
  • Take the temperature of all horses prior to shipping to WEF or AGDF, and do not bring any febrile horses to the show.
  • Avoid mixing of horses where possible; practice equine ‘social distancing’.
  • Ensure good hygiene and biosecurity at the show and your home farms.
  • Make sure your horses are currently vaccinated for influenza and EHV. Under no circumstances should a horse that has been vaccinated compete within 7 days.
  • You should be able to document your horse’s normal temperature before arrival. Please do not ship horses with elevated temperatures. It is recommended that you establish a log of temperatures taken at least twice daily. If there is an elevated temperature for more than a 24-hour period, please consult your local Veterinarian immediately.
  • Every effort should be made to minimize stress and commingling of horses shipped long distances. Extra hours on a horse van or moving from stable to stable is the fastest way to compromise your horses’ and your neighbor’s horses’ health.
  • Please take the time to review equine good hygiene practices and impress its importance to your grooms and barn managers in everyday care.

Karen Pavicic Rides to Victory in FEI Intermediaire II CDI3*

Karen Pavicic and Totem ©SusanJStickle.

Wellington, FL – March 21, 2021 – Week ten of the 2021 Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) concluded on Sunday, March 21, with top honors for Karen Pavicic (CRO) and Totem after earning a 69.206% in the FEI Intermediaire II CDI3*.

Pavicic has had the 2012 Hanoverian gelding by Totilas that she co-owns with Thomas Baur since he was a foal. “He’s nine years old now,” she began, “so it’s been a nine-year journey with him to this point. He’s had a lot of success here at Global, starting in the FEI four-year-old on the national side of competition and then went up through the FEI five-, six-, and seven-year old classes here, and last year we did the small tour. We moved up to the medium tour this season, so he’s been very promising so far.”

Though her plans are still tentative based on the gelding’s progression, Pavicic noted: “I’m hoping to ride a national grand prix with him by the end of our competition season, and possibly do a CDI if we can, but it will really depend on him and how he’s doing. He still needs a little more confidence, particularly in his changes, but as soon as he’s ready I’d love to jump into that.”

Once the AGDF schedule comes to a close, Pavicic will head back to Vancouver, Canada and hopes to get to a few more shows before 2022 arrives. “There aren’t many shows in Canada this year, but I’m hoping to take in some CDIs there when he’s ready,” she concluded. “There are a few CDIs in California that I’d like to get to in October and November, and then we’ll head back to Florida.”

Second place in the FEI Intermediaire II CDI3* went to Pia Fortmuller (CAN) on Frieda, Lars Busch and Pia Fortmueller’s 2011 Hanoverian mare by Furstenball OLD, with 68.824%. Third was rounded out by Nicole Levy (USA) on Imposant MC, her own 2013 KWPN gelding by Bretton Woods, riding to a 61.735%.

Sabine Schut-Kery Leads West Coast Sweep in FEI Grand Prix Special CDI3*

Wellington, FL – March 20, 2021 –The Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) continued on Saturday, March 20, with a second victory of the week for the USA’s Sabine Schut-Kery and Sanceo, this time in the FEI Grand Prix Special CDI3*, presented by Iron Spring Farm. Schut-Kery rode Sanceo, Alice Womble’s 2006 Hanoverian stallion by San Remo, to a score of 75.660%, topping the competitive class by over two percentage points.

“Of course it’s amazing,” she remarked, “I don’t even know what to say! My heart always goes to Sanceo for pulling it off. I felt that there were some things that I could’ve done better today as I was riding, but then I also tried to just stay focused and make sure that I didn’t start making other mistakes. It really felt so amazing. He is always with me and always pulls it off. Obviously he can have a strong day with a high score, and a lower day, and so can I.”

The pair has won every class that they’ve competed in this season, coming all the way from California to test their talents and marking a few personal best scores along the way. Schut-Kery summarized, “It’s been amazing to be able to be here and compete, especially with so many places still shut down. I’m so grateful to be able to keep going. Especially for me – having a horse that is peaking in his age and in his training – to be able to come out here and compete, that’s wonderful. To be here surrounded by our [USA Dressage team’s] coaches with so much access to the wonderful vets, farriers, the entire high performance environment here – it is a unique place, and I’m grateful to be able to come here.”

Schut-Kery and the gelding will now head back to the west coast after their busy season. “I do feel like it’s time for a little break,” she said. “The horses do their job so well, but getting excited does put a little more performance pressure on them. I think he is ready to go home and relax for a while before we get back to it.”

Second place went to another West Coast rider, the USA’s Nick Wagman on Beverly Jean Gepfer’s 2008 KWPN gelding by Johnson TN, Don John, with a 73.340%. Third was rounded out by west coaster Anna Buffini (USA) on her own FRH Davinia la Douce, a 2007 Hannoverian mare by Don Frederico, with 69.936%.

Lyle Captures Individual Gold Medal in FEI Grand Prix Freestyle CDIO3*

Adrienne Lyle and Harmony’s Duval ©SusanJStickle.

Wellington, FL – March 19, 2021 – Week ten of the 2021 Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) continued on Friday, March 19, at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) in Wellington, FL with a winning ride for Adrienne Lyle (USA) and Harmony’s Duval in the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle CDIO3*, presented by Stillpoint Farm.

Lyle and Harmony’s Duval, Duval Partners LLC’s 2008 KWPN gelding by Rousseau, conquered the freestyle under the lights, riding to a score of 80.020%. “It was worth staying up past my bedtime!” she joked.

“There’s really nothing that compares to riding at Global on a Friday Night Stars,” continued Lyle. “It’s one of my favorite experiences in the horse world. To do this on Duval, who we had from when he was unbroke, all the way up to becoming an individual gold medalist here, is just really special. I’ve got an unbelievable group of owners that have supported me along the way.”

Lyle noted that her freestyle is from her previous mount Wizard in 2011 at Dressage at Devon, but thought it would fit well for her mount’s second ever freestyle.

“I wanted to go back to something I knew since Duval has done one freestyle in his life, so I could give him a good experience out there,” she explained.

Lyle and the gelding produced top performances all week, achieving the highest scores in both the grand prix and grand prix special before contesting the freestyle. “I started with the canter work with him [when planning the degree of difficulty]” she remarked. “I think he’s got some fun, powerful canter work. It’s not the most difficult freestyle out there nowadays. When I made it, they didn’t have the degree of difficulty score the way that they do now. But it still has double pirouettes [and] piaffe pirouettes, so it gets enough [degree of difficulty points]. I think it’s a really fun one; it doesn’t always have to be for him the most difficult every time he goes out.”

Negative Equine Herpes Virus Test Result for Horse Tested at AGDF

Wellington, FL – March 18, 2021 – Equestrian Sport Productions (ESP) management announces that there has been a negative test result for Equine Herpes Virus on Thursday, March 18, 2021, on the horse on the Equestrian Village showgrounds for the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival.

Germany Wins First FEI Stillpoint Farm Nations Cup CDIO3* at AGDF

Michael Klimke and Domino 957 ©SusanJStickle.

Wellington, FL – March 18, 2021 – It was the second day of competition for the FEI Stillpoint Farm Nations Cup™ CDIO3* at the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF), and the team from Germany took home their first ever gold medal at the Wellington Nations Cup with 448.568% on Thursday, March 18. A hairsbreadth behind for the silver medal was the team from the United States, who earned 448.381%. Canada was awarded the bronze medal with 437.071%.

First in the ring for the Germans was Michael Klimke piloting Domino 957, Uwe Kappel’s 2012 Westphalian mare by Den Haag, to a score of 68.000% in the FEI Intermediaire I CDIO3*, which ultimately became the drop score for the team.

“First I want to say thank you to the organizers,” said Klimke. “It’s a very difficult time with the pandemic and the outbreaks, and the show has gone on perfectly organized. We all come from Germany and there is [no competition] going on there, so a big thanks from the German riders, the German team, and the German federation to the organizers. We are very, very happy to be sitting here.”

Klimke, who was also serving as the team’s Chef d’Equipe, noted the strength of the other three riders he was leading. “We have three top riders here. My mare was a little tired but the other three did a super, super job, and it was so close and we are more than happy that Germany won. Christoph and I have been here for eight years, and Germany has never won. Normally the Germans are only winning in Germany, so it makes us more happy and more proud.”

Kevin Kohmann rode Equitas LLC’s 2010 KWPN stallion by Amazing Star, Five Star, to two solid finishes in the Nations Cup classes on Wednesday and Thursday, concluding the FEI Intermediaire I CDIO3*, presented by Stillpoint Farm with a score of 74.206%.

“I’m super proud to represent Germany once again,” he explained. “Five Star just hasn’t let me down all season. Yesterday was his high score in the Prix St. Georges, so it felt especially good to do that with the team here with me. Super proud, super happy.”
