Wellington, FL (March 21, 2011) – Dressage rider Caroline Roffman, who at 22 years old has already tasted her fair share of success in the dressage world, is floating on cloud nine following an invitation to compete at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany. Roffman has been invited to compete in the Under 25 competition at the 2011 CHIO Aachen in Germany, July 8-17.
“They held the Under 25 competition for the first time last year and it was successful so they have decided to offer it again,” Roffman said. “I have always wanted to see Aachen, and now to be able to show there for the first time is just amazing.”
While Roffman isn’t certain which horse she will take to Aachen, she is hoping her new ride, Beemer, a 13-year-old, 17.2 hand bay Holsteiner owned in part by her trainer Lars Petersen, will be able to make the trip. “Beemer is a sale horse so I might not have the option of showing him by July, but I am hopeful that he won’t sell until after Aachen and I will get the opportunity of a lifetime to take him to Germany,” Roffman said.
Roffman added that Beemer, who won the National Championship for Six-Year-Olds and competed two years on the Grand Prix circuit with Petersen, is up for the challenge. “Beemer has more experience than my other horses so I would love to show him,” she said.
The Under 25 competition will give Roffman, who was named the 2010 Rising Star by the FEI, the opportunity for exposure in the Young Rider Grand Prix division at the most prestigious show in the world. “This is such an amazing opportunity and I am thrilled,” Roffman said. “It really has been one of my dreams to compete in Aachen.”
While Roffman received an invitation to participate as an individual at Aachen, the USEF has been invited to send up to three more riders. This is the first time the USEF has received the invitation. Aachen’s World Equestrian Festival draws the world’s top competitors in dressage, driving, eventing, jumping and vaulting.
Roffman, who lives and trains in Wellington, has said her goal with Beemer is to compete in the Young Rider Grand Prix and the Brentina Cup classes and, “see where that takes us.” Roffman has also been competing Lux Stensvang, a nine-year-old Danish gelding by Lobster, in the Young Rider Grand Prix division. “I know Lux could compete in Aachen also, but he is like me and doesn’t have as much experience,” Roffman said. “But if everyone stays healthy, happy and sound we will be in Aachen this July, and I can’t wait.”
