Carol Hofmann Thompson.
Gladstone, NJ – March 20, 2014 – On Monday, April 28, 2014 at 5:00PM, the United States Equestrian Team Foundation will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Carol Hofmann Thompson at their Hamilton Farms Headquarters. A short ceremony dedicated to acknowledging the wonderful life of Thompson will be followed by reception for those in attendance. This is a casual event, and all friends and colleagues are welcome to attend.
Thompson passed away on December 5, 2013. She represented the United State from 1963 to 1973 as a member of the Show Jumping team, earning a number of prestigious victories. She later went on to operate Quiet Winter Farm based in Colts Neck, NJ alongside her husband, Willard Thompson.
“The USET meant so much to Carol; it totally transformed her life,” expressed Thompson’s sister Judy Richter. “We lived about 10 minutes from the USET Headquarters. We were neighbors of Arthur McCashin, who was the first USET Team Captain. He was very inspiring and very encouraging to us. We grew up in the Somerset Hills Pony Club. Carol wanted to ride on the team. She spent winters there on the lunge line without stirrup receiving a very classical education from Bert DeNemethy, and that shaped her whole life.”
