Lexington, KY – October 15, 2012 – The 2012 Alltech National Horse Show announced today that the Triumph Project, sponsored by The Davis McCullough Foundation, has joined this year’s show as sponsors of the $50,000 Welcome Stake for the Open and International Jumpers.
The second edition of the Alltech National Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky, is scheduled for October 30 through November 4, 2012. The show will once again be held at the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park.
“The Triumph Project” was created as a vehicle to solicit State and Federal Legislation to end transportation of America’s equines to slaughter for Human Consumption.
The Project, funded by The Davis McCullough Foundation, allows for lobbying where a 501 c3 is prohibited.
The Project has the great distinction of purchasing the contents of two entire slaughter auctions of the infamous “SugarCreek ” auction – those complete numbers in their entirety – showcased the discrepancy of the ages of horses going to slaughter, as next they were able to expose the indescribable cruelty of transport and feedlot storage of the discarded, as well as the numbers of foals, mares in foal, and young barely raced thoroughbred horses.
The Triumph Project has produced the most significant Equine Protection law in the United States with a mandatory Felony if convicted of abuse, neglect, slaughter, or to abandon horses, ponies and donkeys. This law is now in effect in the State of Florida, followed by Texas, Illinois, California, and most recently, New Jersey. Seven States have the Bill set for consideration for the 2013 sessions.
“To end equine cruelty on such a wholesale campaign was firstly thought to be somewhat obtainable,” said Victoria McCullough, founder of the Triumph Project. “Yet committees and corruption continue to derail the desired outcome and now we understand it will be food safety and contamination by commonly used medications within the industry that will prevail. We will deliver a new horizon for America’s Horse.”

This year’s show, designated CSI4*-W, will feature a complete schedule of ‘AA’-rated hunter divisions, including the Pony Lane Farm High Performance Hunter section. Also on the agenda, a big money Open Jumper division highlighted by the $50,000 Triumph Project Welcome Stake Sponsored by The Davis McCullough Foundation, the $75,000 Double H Farms Thursday Jump-Off class, the $60,000 Chartis Insurance Company Speed class on Friday and of course, the $250,000 Alltech National Horse Show Grand Prix, an FEI World Cup qualifying event. In addition, $100,000 will be up for grabs for the Junior and Amateur Jumper divisions sponsored by Chansonette and Deeridge Farm, including the $50,000 SJHOF Junior/Amateur Championships, sponsored by Pasmore Stables, Chansonette and Deeridge Farm. The final Sunday is highlighted by the signature event of the National Horse Show, the ASPCA Alfred B. Maclay Finals, presented by C. M. Hadfield’s Saddlery.
