2016 GDCTA CDI3* – Last Chance in Southeast to Qualify for Rio Olympics

Kennesaw (December 22, 2015): In a way, the Olympics are returning to Atlanta in the Spring of 2016. The 2016 GDCTA CDI3* will be the last opportunity for the nation’s top dressage combinations will have to qualify in the Southeast for the 2016 Olympic team bound for Brazil in August.

The Georgia International Horse Park, venue of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics equestrian events, will be the place to be this April as some of the nation’s best and brightest dressage stars compete at the Greater Atlanta Dressage Southern I and II and CDI3*/AM/J/Y/U25 shows, which run April 7-10 in Conyers, Georgia.

With the addition of this CDI3* Olympic qualifying event, GDCTA continues to change the way riders, trainers, owners and spectators experience the sport of dressage in the Southeast.

Four American riders will compete on the team for Rio following the nation’s strong performance at the 2014 World Equestrian Games.

The event will also include a huge vendor village with merchandise for both equestrian and non-equestrian, parties with fabulous food and refreshments, first class dressage, and ring-side viewing for table ticket holders.

General spectator admission and parking at the Horse Park is free. Special Event tickets will be available through the www.gdcta.org website in early 2016.

Thursday, April 7
4:00 PM: Jog
5:00 PM: VIP Cocktail Party (Invitation-only event)

Friday, April 8
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM: GADS I Classes
8:00 AM – 6:00 PM: CDI3* Classes
5:00 PM: Wine & Cheese Welcome (Tickets required) – This Welcome Party will be going on during the Grand Prix, which is running in the Charles Walkers (covered) Arena

Saturday, April 9
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM: GADS I Classes
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM: CDI3* Classes
5:00 PM: Exhibitors’ Party (Tickets Required)
6:30 PM: FEI Freestyle Competition

Sunday, April 10
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM: GADS II Classes
8:00 AM – Noon: CDI3* Classes
Noon: CDI3* Awards Ceremony
