$5,000 Pro-Am Bull Riding
The Sport of Bull Riding has been universally acclaimed
as, not only the most exciting sport in rodeo, but as the world's most dangerous sport
Much like the American celebrity bull riding reality show
, the "Where the North Meets the South" FCI Pro/Am Bull Riding Challenge has Grand Prix Show Jumping riders riding professional bucking bulls for the first time, or maybe the second (if they competed last year) for a purse of $5,000.
The Jumper riders are matched with junior bulls,
which have a little less power and snap than the pro bulls, and are used in lower levels of competition. They are scored on time completed, in seconds, as opposed to the judged 8 second ride of the pros.
Like Show Jumping, Bull Riding
requires a team, the union of bull and rider as like horse and rider is the very essence of the event, and while athleticism, courage, intelligence and knowledge are essential to be competitive, the quality of the mount and rider is what elevates to championship level.
Last years’ "Where the North Meets the South" Pro/Am Bull Riding Challenge
proved that Jumper Riders are tremendous athletes, and the First Coast Invitational would like to extend our sincere thanks to these show jumping riders and professional bull riders that made the event such a great success!
