For the first time in Florida an Arabian Community Show is being offered on Saturday March 8th, 2008.  The show is sponsored by the North Florida Arabian Horse Club and will be held in the beautiful JacksonvilleEquestrianCenter.  Our Arabian friends have been asking for an Arabian Show and now we’re going to give them one.  There are available camping facilities and near-by restaurants and hotels.  Our Show Judge is Matt Murray, Trail Judge is Barbara Aponte, and our Paddock Master is Linda Roberts.

nancy-cortes-Image40.jpgThe show offers many featured classes like: Sport Horse In Hand, Sport Horse Under Saddle, Sport Horse Under Saddle Most Suitable for Dressage, All types of Halter classes for all ages, Western Pleasure and Equitation classes for all ages, Hunter, English Pleasure and Country Pleasure classes, Championships classes with percentage payoffs, and Specialty classes like Liberty, Lead Line and Native Costume.

On Sunday the 9th the 17th Annual Karen Fry Memorial Horse Show will be held at the same facility.  The Judge for this show is Jennifer Moshier, and Trail Judge Barbara Aponte.  This is an Open All Breed horse show which means the Arabian horses can also enter a 2nd day show.  This show offers many classes including some gaited classes for our gaited horse chrissy_cody_horseshow.jpgowners, some percentage payoff Championship classes and classes for all ages for both horses and riders.  Laurine and Lonnie Fry, Karen’s parents, will again present a beautiful trophy to the 1st place winner of the Good Sportsmanship Award and give 6 medallions to 6 deserving youngsters that they have observed during both days of showing.  The presentation will be given at approximately 2:00pm on Sunday.

No charge for spectator admission on either day.  Also vendors are welcome!  Vendor forms are found on club web site.

Youngsters from both of these shows are eligible for the Karen Fry Memorial Good Sportsmanship Award

KISSING FAN.jpgWhat is an Arabian Community Show?   For many years now Arabian horse owners around the country have asked for an affordable Arabian show venue where the novice can test his or her skill and where the local Amateur owner can compete with other Arabian enthusiasts at an affordable level outside of the Class A and Regional competitions. The Arabian Horse Association has come up with just this type of show.

Some of the benefits of the Arabian Community Shows are:

¨      Affordability for families to enjoy showing their horses rather than be in the stressful atmosphere of the A rated shows.

¨      A Show for the Arabians, Half-Arabians and Anglo-Arabians registered with the Arabian Horse Association Registry or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry.

¨      Year-end High-point program that creates recognition for top achievement by category and value for the horse.

¨      A Milestone award program that recognizes personal achievements and tracking of an individual's progress.

¨      Web-based show approval, results entry and tracking to keep costs down and data current.

¨      As an exhibitor in an Arabian Community Show, the rider/handler and their horse will accumulate points based on how they place. AHA member exhibitors will earn awards based on the number of points they accumulate within class categories and year-to-date.

Milestone Awards : Individual AHA member exhibitors will earn points that will accumulate over time based on how they place in ACS competitions. At specific "milestones", based on total points earned, individuals will receive awards and be recognized for their accomplishments on the AHA website.

Horse Performance Records: AHA & CAHR registered Arabians, Half-Arabians and Anglo-Arabians competing in an ACS will have their accomplishments recorded in the horse's permanent event record in the web-based world database, Arabian Horse Datasource, www.arabdatasource.com.

After the show within 20 days the Show Secretary or Show Manager will post all results of the show to the AHA web site.  AHA's Arabian Horse DataSource online pedigree service will display the show results by horse.  Status of ACS High-Point Award and individual Milestone Award programs will be updated and available for viewing via the AHA website, and members that have achieved a specific Milestone in that award program will be mailed their individual award.
