Press Release Dancing with Horses Clinic
There will be a very, unique clinic held in Reddick, Florida (North Ocala area) on March 3 - 4, 2007 for Equestrians seeking to increase their harmony with their horses. The clinic will combine the expertise of a professional dance teacher/choreographer and a dressage/natural horsemanship trainer.
It will be co-taught by Karen Rohlf (dressage/natural horseman) and JoAnna Mendl Shaw (dance choreographer /teacher).
Karen teaches what she calls Dressage, Naturally (dressagenaturally.net) which is a merging of the skills of dressage and the principles of natural horsemanship. In this way she strives to increase the mental, emotional and physical harmony of horse and rider. The goal is to progress in dressage while keeping a healthy partnership with the horse. Karen is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist, ‘L’ judge and is associated with Parelli Natural Horsemanship.
JoAnna is on staff at the Julliard School of Dance in New York City, and is founder and artistic director of The Equus Projects, (dancingwithhorses.org) a dance company that has been creating performances and clinics with horses and riders.
Together they will create an experience where riders can learn more deeply about moving with skeletal awareness, deep muscular connections, leading and following, and how to use this awareness to improve their riding skills. We use our bodies to communicate with our horses. We also expect a lot from our horse’s performance. We owe it to our horses to become more conscious about our own movement patterns and change them positively.
This clinic will be assisted by 4 professional dancers. It is a lot of fun and profoundly helpful for equestrians of many levels of experience. Take your riding to the next level. See what can be learned to be the perfect dance partner for your horse!
