SERGIO CAMPOSOcala, Florida (March 13, 2007) - Sergio Campos rode his mount Shakira Do Jacare to victory and collected $15,000 in prize money during the $50,000 Iron Springs Farm Grand Prix, presented by Sag Harbor Realtors at HITS Ocala to conclude the Ocala Tournament at HITS Post Time Farm.

Course designer Danny Foster funneled 40 competitors down to just three for the jump-off, including two of Campos' mounts. Campos was first to go aboard Zizou and had 12 faults. On that trip, he came in third and collected $6,500 in prize money for owner Rae Marie Kennedy.

Campos entered the ring next aboard Shakira Do Jacare and the pair's four-fault score set the Great American Time to Beat at 36.681. I knew going in I could do no worse than a second and a third place finish, he said. That's why I really went all out and tried to go for a fast time to put the pressure on Chuck Waters.

Waters and 747 had the enviable last-to-ride position but could not stop the clocks faster than Campos, as they collected $11,000 in prize money for their second place effort. It looked like Waters would break Campos' mark, but taking the last rail down pushed him into second place. It was obvious when I was out there, I just wanted to take my time and go clean, said Waters. I had an unlucky rub at the last rail. What can you do?

The triumph marks the fourth Grand Prix Campos has made the victory gallop in at HITS Ocala. Next week is the big one, he said. I have been very successful here so far, but to win the $100,000 class next week is the one win we all aim for when we step onto the show grounds in January.

Show jumping at HITS Ocala resumes on Wednesday, March 14, with the Ocala Winter Finals and the $25,000 Ariat Grand Prix as Thursday's featured class. On Sunday, March 18, competitors will take their best shot at the $100,000 HITS Grand Prix of Ocala, presented by Great American Insurance. Last year's winner, Aaron Vale, had three mounts in the money on Sunday as he gears up for an encore performance. Vale and Serval also won Thursday's $25,000 Ariat Grand Prix.

Since its introduction in 1982, the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit has become a fixture on the East Coast show jumping circuit. Each winter, the Ocala Circuit attracts national and international participants from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Classes offered range from Grand Prix show jumping to a selection of divisions for both the beginning and experienced rider. Located in Ocala/Marion County, the heart of Florida's horse country, the area is home to over 600 horse farms and hundreds of supporting facilities and businesses. HITS moved the Ocala horse shows from the 100-acre Golden Hills International Show Grounds to the circuit's new home, the 300+ acre Post Time Farm in 2002. HITS Post Time Farm is located just a few miles west of the Golden Hills International Show Grounds on Highway 27. The Post Time Training Center was originally built for thoroughbred racehorses. The facility is professionally landscaped and features gated entrances, 52 miles of four-board fencing, 26 permanent barns that house 500 stalls, numerous paddocks, bridle paths, and additional buildings for the horse show office, restaurant, and on-site school.
