Flim Flam

Former American Olympic Team horse Flim Flam has passed away after a severe colic attack. Flim Flam was euthanized during surgery at the vet clinic on October 28, 2004. The veterinarians diagnosed a ruptured stomach and the horse could not be saved.

Owned by Fritz Kundrun, Flim Flam was a Hanoverian bred gelding by Wilhelm Tell out of Cilia, by Cavalier. The dark bay was the anchor horse on the 2000 American Olympic Dressage team that won the team bronze medal. Under his steady rider Sue Blinks, Flim Flam also placed 8th individually. The pair also contributed much to boost the U.S. dressage team to its highest team placing ever, team silver at the 2002 World Equestrian Games. They finished 9th individually in Jerez.

The duo made their first big international break through at the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome. Blinks received the USOC Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year award in 1998 in large part to her individual twelfth place and team fourth place finishes at the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome, Italy while riding Flim Flam.

Flim Flam was retired from competition in 2004. He was 17-years old.
