"Come on, fella," she clicked to her horse and the dog at their feet, as they trotted along the country road, smelling the corn silk, the last of the wild flowers, the fertile earth.

It's true that horses (like people!) are innately crooked. And that crookedness contributes to your horse feeling uneven in the rein. But not all of the unevenness in the reins comes from your horse. People often offer their horses uneven contact because their hands aren't even. (One hand is closer to their bodies, one hand is higher, one hand is collapsed with the thumb pointing toward the withers, etc.)

EEE Update from Alan Weldon, DVM
I would change the recommendation from a 9 month booster to every 6 months. The immune response to a vaccine is similar to a bell curve...low at the beginning then peaking in the middle and then waning towards the end. This information, combined with higher input costs (fuel, fertilizer, land rent), will likely lead to increased hay prices. Remember that horses need roughage just like everyone else-in fact, they need much more. Fifty to 100 percent of a horse's diet should be forage of some sort.
